This is not anywhere near the best of The Avengers series, but it's much better than the inexcusably appalling cinema film version starring Uma Thurman,Ralph Feinnes and Sean Connery. That wouldn't take much, as the film was one of the very worst films of any kind I've ever seen in over 40 years of cinema attendance.

These episodes just get by on the chemistry and charm of Dianna Rigg and Patrick MacNee respectively playing agents Emma Peel and John Steed. But keep looking through the other files and you'll discover why the series became one of televisions legends.

Worth watching if only to see Diana Rigg, her and Patrick Macnee have such chemistry.

This is the second disc with coloured episodes, the stories are pure comic book adventures, but good fun to watch.

Rated - 5 starsThe Avengers Series

I had great pleasure in re-watching The Avengers. This original series brings with it great nostalgia value. Diana Rigg is beautiful and a great fashion icon. Her outfits are so representative of the era. The story lines are uncomplicated and fun, and I love the corny final sequence of every episode, which always leaves you with a smile. And of course, it's still great to watch Emma Peel fight. The karate chops don't quite connect and it's obvious when her stunt double stands in but nevertheless, I still remember the excitement her combat sceens used to generate. The Avengers - a great walk down memory lane.
