A well-written, well-acted story that somehow manages to tell a story about a gay man who falls in love with a woman without playing into the old stereotype of a gay person just 'needing' one good relationship with someone of the opposite sex to 'cure' them.

Alan Davies and Lesley Sharp are both likeable and believable. None of the characters is one-dimensional. The story keeps your interest without resorting to soap-style melodrama.

I just wish there were more!

You'll life, you'll cry, it'll change your life. If you want anything more from a six-part drama, let me be the first to call you unbearable. I'd seen Queer as Folk, I'd seen The Second Coming, I'd seen Doctor Who - I didn't think Russell T. Davies could have had an unbroken run of quality writing, but this really was an amazing drama - exceedingly witty, heart-breaking, and best of all - constantly surprising! Add on top of that the best cast you could ask for in any television show or film (Penelope Wilton! Jessica Stephenson! Lesley Sharp!) and I think you'll see where I'm coming from. Don't delay!

It may be a cliché to say that this 'really spoke to me', but in this case its true: as a straight man who fell in love with a gay man, this drama is highly fascinating and very honest.

It's also very funny, and such a beautiful romantic tale that it made me cry. Recommended.

Rated - 5 starsFunny, entertaining

If you liked queer as folk you'll probably love this. I originally saw this when it was on ITV and then watched the dvd after ordering it from here, and I enjoyed it more than ever. Penelopy Wilton's character is just hysterical as Bobs mother, as well as Alan Davies and Lesley Sharp performing well.

This story is based on truth as Russell T Davies (who also wrote the new series of Dr Who) had a gay friend who fell in love with a woman and got married to her, he wrote the story to deal with his own, and others predjudice and to show that sexuallity isnt all black and white.

All in all a great little gem of a tv series.
