Brief synopsis of Driving Lessons

Rupert Grint from the HARRY POTTER movies plays a shy teenager with an overbearing mother in this gentle comedy. Grint's character finds solace in an unusual place when he goes to work for a retired actress (played by Julie Walters).

Rated - 5 starsA marmite of a film.

Well, I absolutely loved this film. Simple idea, but hilarious & heartwarming. Great casting, directing & dialogue. I would recommend to everyone who is interested in this film to watch it and make their own minds up about it. I guess it's a lot like our notorious British 'Yeasty' spread ~ you either love it or hate it.

Rated - 5 starsFantastic

Answering an ad for a summer job, quiet 17 year-old Ben Marshall meets aging dame Evie Walton who's looking for help about the house. Julie Walters and Rupert Grint are both wholly believeable in this British film. It made me laugh out loud in parts and cry in other parts. Excellent film with excellent acting.

Rated - 4 starsAn L of a good movie..

Julie Walters magnificently plays Evie, an effected luvvie ex actress of some reknown (at least to herself), and Rupert Grint (again excellent as Ben) to get a bit of pocket money together becomes her aide. Ben is a young teenager who has been brought up with a vicar father and homely mother, and has little grasp of the gritty real world. Ede changes all that, she is a blaspheming hard drinking lady who has had several past marriages, and to Ben this whole thing is an awakening. I would rather the end was slightly different but this is a warm witty (and just a tad weird) film that is a just about perfect rental for a nice night in.

Rated - 5 starsLovely!

What a lovely sweet film, not hilarious or particularly exciting but just a really lovely entertaining film, with brilliant characters and acting. Will probably buy this could watch it over and over, some poignant moments giving you something to think about long after watching the film. Loved the vicars description of Christianity!
