Brief synopsis of The Break-Up

Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) are a mismatched couple who meet, develop a seemingly contented relationship, and buy a beautiful condo together within the movie's first few minutes. Soon an all-too-believable fight triggers the title event, and they spend the rest of the movie alternately arguing and playing mind games as they battle over ownership of their beloved condo--and try to decide whether or not they really want this to be the end...

Rated - 4 starsNot your usual Rom Com! A must see!

A customer from North London , 22/07/2006

This is NOT your typical rom com, and anyone that says this movie is a waste of time completely missed the point of the film! One of the better films Aniston has starred in (and I am NOT saying this because of her infamous naked scene)which says alot because besides 'Friends' Aniston hasn't really done any outstanding or even memorable films. The film touches subtly on the dynamics between male /female relationships and the problems that ensue. I liked the end, it wasn't your usual happy- ever-after-typical-Hollywood-ending. It made a very distinctive point: sometimes a man can have a great thing going with a woman, but he doesn't realise it at the time, when he finally does come around to appreciating what he had, he has lost it and her for good!A film you can really get your teeth into, although I think it's the kind of film the girls could go and see: there's a few laughs and tears along the way. Well worth seeing!

Rated - 4 starsNot a Romantic Comedy

Carrie Stewart from London, England [Highly rated reviewer] , 28/02/2007

I found this painful to watch at times, not because it is a bad film, it's not, it's actually quite a good film, no matter what a lot of reviewers out there have said. It's just not a romantic comedy, and has few funny moments in it (though there are some). For me it is more a drama, and watching two people who love each other find ways to hurt one another wasn't all that much fun. It was sad, but had quite a nice ending at least. I thought both leads were enjoyable, but I did feel more of a sympathy towards Aniston's character, though found it difficult to see how they had fallen in love in the first place, when they were so mismatched. I guess that's why they say opposites attract. Don't watch expecting belly laughs and you should enjoy.

Rated - 3 starsevery couple can relate

A customer from wrexham, n wales , 26/05/2007

i watched it with the wife and it really is a chick flick the bloke doesnt really come out looking good when shes washing up hes watching baseball or playing on his game console so as a man i kinda relate to that and just for a milisecond begin to think i should do more then im ok again an average film afew laughs along the way a man would see his point and a woman hers so a good discussion after followed by silence if you did watch this but as a film watch it but you would never watch it again this film does have a good cast though i would put it in your medium list.

Rated - 3 starsA reasonable film, didn't like the ending

Thomas Perkins from Plymouth, Devon, England [Highly rated reviewer] , 29/08/2007

This film was OK and had a few funny moments but not as funny as I expected. It wasn't a bad film but I didn't really think it was excellent either, just average really. I didn't like the ending, it was neither happy nor sad and to me didn't feel like a proper ending and I hate that! Apart from that it is OK though.

Rated - 3 starsIt's a girl thing...

PJC from Wales , 15/06/2007

...though despite that, my wife fell asleep towards the end.

Some laughs as the story plays on the steriotype of men (lazy!) & women (houseproud) living together.

For the ladies: Jen's hair.

For the men: Jen's naked bottom.

Certainly not the worst 'rom-com' you could choose.
