Brief synopsis of Queer Duck

QUEER DUCK: THE MOVIE is the feature-length outing of the hilariously irreverent U.S. cartoon series. Written and created by SIMPSONS scribe Mike Reiss, the series gleefully parodies gay stereotypes--and homophobic public figures like Dr. Laura and Jerry Falwell--through the Streisand-loving misadventures of a flamingly gay duck (voiced by Jim J. Bullock, TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT) and his fabulous trio of friends: the martini-swilling, smoking-jacketed Oscar Wildcat, the Harvey Fierstein-sounding Openly Gator, and the leather-boyish Bi-Polar Bear (REN & STIMPY's Billy West doing his best Paul Lynde impersonation). In this made-for-video movie, Queer Duck attempts to go straight with the help of a Christian fundamentalist preacher-horse, resulting in a swishy swirl of racy humour and snappy musical numbers replete with guest voices by Tim Curry, Conan O'Brien, Andy Dick, and David Duchovny. Oh my gay stars!

Queer Duck recently premiered in the UK at the Outsiders Film Festival in Liverpool, and went down a storm with the audience.

This hobby project from Mike Reiss, one of the Simpsons writers started life on internet cartoons, graduated to small screen cable stardom and now has its big screen debut, much to the pleasure of a host of gay fans.

Queer Duck is about to be ‘cured’ of his homosexuality by an evangelical Christian preacher. Worse, he’s getting engaged to a retired movie star called Lola - who bears an uncanny resemblance to Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard

Its funny most of the time, though a few jokes may go over the naive hetero head... star spotters look out for David Duchovny and Tim Curry guesting but above all enjoy it for what it is

... Queer Duck, he's intellectual... Queer Duck, he's homosexual...

Although the ideas behind the making of this animated film might be very interesting, I have found it nonsensical and really pedantic on some issues. By doing so it fails to be funny and to engage with the public.

This was ODD and obvious. Got very board with the simple stereotypical storyline. Might have been cutting edge when it came out but now...it's just BLA. I wanted to laugh but I just couldn't.. it was just silly and perplexing and not in a good way.
