Brief synopsis of Edison

Former N-Sync star Justin Timberlake makes his acting debut in this gritty crime thriller, playing a young journalist who uncovers massive police corruption in the town of Edison. He joins forces with his cynical mentor (Morgan Freeman, MILLION DOLLAR BABY), as well as an investigator for the district attorney's office (Kevin Spacey, AMERICAN BEAUTY), in order to take on the criminal element in the force, which has until now been implicitly sanctioned. Co-starring are Cary Elwes (SAW), Dylan McDermott (THE PRACTICE), and L.L. Cool J (S.W.A.T.).

Crooked cops and politicians against good cop, journalist, and investigator!

Predictable story, easy to work out the plot, but well shot and acted.

An enjoyable 99 minutes.

Justin Timberlake was better than expected.

I dont know where to start really ..it was utter tripe. The biggest surprise was Justin Timberlake, he was quite convincing , not a bad actor really. if this was his first ever movie then he has a legit excuse ..as for Morgan Freeman .. well he hasnt he was just as bad as L L cool j. If a film has morgan freeman in i usually see who he is co-staring.. i think he is over rated personnally. Dont get me wrong he has done afew good films ..shawshank/ bruce almighty etc. As for dylan mc wots his face well just what i expected from him.. the whole film came across as lazy script , predictable ,made me cringe seeing morgan freeman dance lol .. ll cool j went to same 'old school' of acting as Ice T ..yep so if u are easily pleased and want to kill 90 mins then this is for you. Oh i forgot to mention Kevin Spacey .. well if you look past the boot polished wig he has on then you can see he is well over rated as an actor too ...still like him American Beauty /Usual suspects, but K-pax?? ..

If u want to watch a better movie about crooked cops ..and still have a rapper/some1 from the music business etc then rent out ..Narc (2002): Jason Patric, Ray Liotta, Busta Rhymes .. thats alot better than Edison.

I guess when reviewing a movie much of your rating comes from expectations, here, despite a few big names, we expected nothing more than a reasonably paced action thriller with hopefully a few twists to keep you guessing, and that’s pretty much what we got. Ok so the twists were for the most part quite weak but just about enough to keep the movie interesting, especially the first main twist which caught me out! (Few glasses of wine had been consumed) The acting was reasonable including that of Mr Timberlake who held his own nicely. The script was mostly basic yet enjoyable all the same. Timberlake plays a small time reporter who upsets the wrong people whilst investigating a special police units actions, its simple but in this genre effective. Edison ticks along nicely and kept us watching, a few elements are frustrating and the ending fails to deliver much in the way of an exciting climax however we could not say we did not enjoy. If you are looking for a complicated and intelligent thriller then this is probably not for you but for a run of the mill action adventure with a few interesting ideas and a half decent acting debut from a pop star then you could well enjoy. We have sneaked it into 4 stars with 7/10.

Justin Timberlake was better than expected but the story line was too easy to predict.

No need to watch the whole film, just watch half and save the time

A corrupt cop department. A young, innocent journalist that stumbles across the story. A good cop getting dragged in to 'wicked' ways.

All sound a bit familiar?

There is nothing new, or astounding in this film. However, it was progressing ok until the the last 10 minute climax. A ludicrous shoot-out, because they could not be bothered to imagine something more creative. It left me with a feeling, 'why did I bother watching this?'

Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey are completely wasted in this film.

I was lured into renting this film by the trailer which appeared very promising with an all star line up. However, the plot is ridiculous, acting atrocious and the action scenes are crammed into the last 5 minutes which are pretty rubbish to be honest. I dont think the performances of Spacey or Freeman can be criticised as they are obviously legends, I'm just amazed they signed up to film this tripe.
