Brief synopsis of Auf Wiedersehen Pet - Series 1 - Vol. 1 : Episodes 1-3

AUF WIEDERSEHEN PET is the classic British comic drama that encapsulated the spirit of Britain under Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s. Featuring a great ensemble cast, this set follows a likeable bunch of unemployed builders who are forced to start working in Germany as a last option. Led by foreman Dennis (Tim Healy) and the mercurial Oz (Jimmy Nail), the seven strong crew attempt to get by in a foreign country and end up in plenty of scrapes. The second series saw them reunited and working on renovating a stately home before heading off to Spain to work on their bosses villa. This specially packaged box contains both series.

This is a gem and one of the best written, finest acted shows ever made. If you remember it from the 80's then see it again because it's every bit as good as it was. If you've never seen it - do yourself a favour and watch it - and ponder why tv never reaches such heights these days.

It is extremely funny can't wait to see the next three episodes. Oz is out of this world with some of his sayings, he's great.

Rated - 3 starsGeordie comedy still makes us laugh

ANNIEnSIME from surrey , 20/04/2005

As kids, we both remember this series. Even though it's being shown on just about every other cable channel, it was definitely worth renting out.

It took time to get into the accents, as many of the scenes take place on building sites or in bars and clubs, but that aside, there is some touching moments, especially with the fantastic Timothy Spall as the hapless brummie, Barry.

Thorougly enjoyable, although not sure the rest of the series will be hired.
