Brief synopsis of 2001: A Space Odyssey

2001: A Space Odyssey is a countdown to tomorrow, a road map to human destiny, a quest for the infinite. It is a dazzling, Academy Award Winning visual achievement, a compelling drama of man vs machine, a stunning meld of music and motion. It may be the master-work of directer Stanly Kubrick (who co-wrote the screenplay with Arthur C. Clarke)...and it will likely excite, inspire and enthrall for generations. To begin his voyage into the future, kubrick visits our prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leaps millennia into colonised space, and ultimately whisks astronaut Bowman (Keir Dullea) into uncharted realms of space, perhaps even into immortality. "Open the pod bay doors, HAL." Leth the awe and mystery of a journey unlike any other begin.

easily one of the best films ever made, if you don't get it you haven't watched it properly, the special effects for a film of its age are outstanding. filmed on 70mm widescreen true cinema, if you want more watch 2001 and beyond with interviews from arthur c Clark, he helped invent the satellite!!! and wrote the screenplay for this,,,,open the doors hal

Rated - 1 starsBrilliant film - ruined by poor quality

A customer from East Molesey , 26/10/2008

This is a truly groundbreaking movie full of such forward thinking that it still looks fresh today. However, I bought the download version which starts off well, but the quality degrades to an unwatchable level 36 minutes and 48 seconds in and stays that way for the rest of the movie - very annoying and I'm sure Kubrik didn't plan for it to ever be released in a format that detracts from his vision.

I will be doing all I can to get my money back!

This is a good film, but not as masterful as most people would have you think
