Brief synopsis of Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider, from 2K Games and developer Climax, is the game of the film of the comic, also handily-known as Ghost Rider. If you're not familiar with the character or the story, then try to resist this: man called Johnny Blaze sells his soul to become a bum-kicking, baddie-bashing Spirit Avenger, ride a souped-up chopper and wear flames over his bones instead of skin. Stylish!

Ghost Rider is set up as a combat game in the main, with a bit of motorcycle riding action to get between fighting locations. Bad guys beware, as Blaze haunts the highways of the United States, hunting down the wicked and the damned. The titular character feeds on fire and the souls of the damned, therefore must continue looking for said baddies to stay alive. He's like the Littlest Hobo, but really tormented and, well, a bit of a bad guy himself when you really think about it.

Motorcycle combat astride the Hell Cycle is Road rage-like in its implementation and presentation, in that swinging a chain at enemies is largely the order of the day. The bike has superpowers too: riding on water, boosting for jumps, and powering down to get under obstacles are just the tip of the iceberg. Developer Climax certainly has plenty of pedigree when it comes to motorcycle action, as its portfolio includes the MotoGP: Ultimate Racing Technology series of games.

The fighting sequences are the real meat and taties of the game however, with special moves facilitated via button combos. The more souls you harvest (meaning the more beings you slaughter) the more you can 'spend' on new moves. Handy! There are 40 special moves to collect, and you'll need them all to progress to the end of the game.
