Brief synopsis of Call of duty 3: Gold edition

Call of Duty 3 takes gamers closer than ever to the fury of combat during the Normandy Breakout, the historic campaign that made the liberation of Paris possible and brought the Allies a step closer to Berlin. Players assume the roles of four Allied soldiers (American, British, Canadian and Polish) who must fight German forces on an authentic battlefield. With an unprecedented variety of combat, detailed character animations, high-definition graphics and violent on-screen action, number 3 is certainly the most immersive and realistic of the Call of Duty series.

There are numerous new features in Call of Duty 3, including an all-new close-quarters battle mechanic that allows players to disarm traps, fight hand-to-hand, detonate explosive devices and execute many other battlefield situations that require rapid reflexes to survive.

Up to 24 players can fight it out online with the option of single or split-screen Internet play. Gamers have the choice to play as infantry or commandeer multiple-occupancy vehicles such as jeeps, tanks and motorcycles with side-cars that lead to unique mobile combat roles for action-packed multiplayer action. The game also offers soldier classes, each with their own unique abilities and a ranking system for truly diversified squad combat.

The Gold Edition version of the game includes five free Xbox Live multiplayer maps, a 'Making of' feature, an 'Inside the Normandy Breakout' feature with interviews with veterans from the campaign, and Spike's Game Head: the Call of Duty 3 Challenge

I have to say that I am a big fan of the 'COD' series; but then who is not?. Gameplay is brilliant and if you play on the veteran skill: it will really pull you in. This is not by any means an easy game, but has a way to keep you going back for more and more. One of the enhanced features (which i thought gave the axis an advantage in COD2) is the ability to pick up a granade thrown at you and quickly return it. Dont be tempted to play this on an easy level,Play it on ' veteran' mode :it makes a better game. And then, if you are an achievement orientated person, go back and get these on an easy skill level. So, you have finished the game, what do you do next? you go online!. just when you think this game could not get any better, it turns round and smacks you right in the face. I would pay the £40 for the online game alone. Achievements are there to be had on the ranked games only, however more fun is to be had on player matches. A well organised player match is fantastic, you decide where your strengths lie;whether it be a sniper, scout, medic or various others. And you play that part in your team, a well balanced team is the key to winning in any team gameplay. Personaly, i like the online war mode: you and your team fight to gain control of an area, pushing the opposition back and back until you win the last area and win the game. One last thing i would like to mention about this game, is that it attracts gamers right throughout the spectrum. from young to the very old. This makes for a well balanced mature online gameplay, as their is nothing worse than kids shouting obscenities and going out their way to spoil gameplay ( dont get me wrong, there are more respectful youngsters than the latter, who enjoy getting away from these idiots too).

To conclude: This game is fantastic: both online and offline. This game falls into the category RENT THEN BUY, its that good.

OH! and just one more thing, please use the online punish system wisely: Only punish if you are intentionaly or stupidly killed by a team mate. Have fun, and enjoy.
