Brief synopsis of Kororinpa

Kororinpa is one of those games with balls. It also has many mazes, and demands that you use all your skill and poise with the Nintendo Wiimote. A keen eye and a steady hand will help you with the precise moves you'll need to make to progress in Kororinpa. There's a selection of quirky balls, each with their own characteristics and peccadilloes, to manouevre through complex 3D mazes. All you need to do is tilt the Wiimote.

So far, so Monkey Ball-esque, and the main similarity to the aforementioned is in moving the maze - not the ball. As the maze is tilted the ball will move as it would in real life, as if pulled by gravity. Players must also try to collect all Red Crystals along the courses to unlock the next maze. There are 50+ mazes in total, and five different environments on offer, including Toy Land and Candy Land. Each of these features its own unique obstacles and music, and somewhere along the way, you'll see green crystals too. Collect these, and you will unlock secret environments and more stages.

As we mentioned in the first paragraph, there are different balls to select in Kororinpa. Each one has a varying level of response, slide, speed and bounce. Careful ball selection is imperative in order to successfully complete the whole puzzle.

Rated - 4 starsPretty simple; can only recommend multi-player

This game is very easy on the early levels since the mazes you have to negotiate are quite flat. As the levels progress into three dimensions it becomes harder but if you have a steady hand then it's still not particularly difficult. Indeed the hardest part of some levels is the fact that you can't manipulate the camera view and so are sometimes unable to see where you are going, or determine whether it is safe to fall off a ledge. All in all the single player game is an interesting way to pass the time but not particularly engrossing or challenging.

The multi-player on the other hand is much more entertaining. Although the levels are exactly the same as those in single player, racing against an opponent is lots of fun. Playing with my brother, games were of the 'tortoise and the hare' variety. He would race round and perform outrageous marble jumps but then he would also fall off the maze quite regularly too; I would carefully make my way to the destination. It never even occurred to me to attempt the kind of jumps that my brother tried when I was playing the single-player game because there was no real sense of urgency - a race changes that. Attempting to outdo your opponent's marble stunts is great fun (when you pull them off!).

Worth buying? Probably not but since you're renting it, it's definitely worth a try - particularly multi-player.

Rated - 4 starsGreat game, but.....

I loved this game, so did my wife and kids. A combo of skill and puzzle work to bring an addictive twist to the Wii, with the unique features of the Wii's control system utilised to perfection. Who would have thought that rolling a ball round a path could be such fun.

However, the game is over way too quickly, and there is little to bring you back again and again, although the 2 player mode can become hectic fun.

I loved this game, but am glad I didn't pay out the 30 pound to buy it outright first, chosing to rent it first to see if I could live without it. AFter playing it for a week, a fully enjoyable week, I can live without.

Rated - 2 starsFun.. for about 5 minutes!

I like puzzle games, I like the cool ways you can use the Wii controller. So its odd that I don't like this game much. Its too easy, the tilt table control is ok but the controller should be held the other way so that your wrist doesn't hurt after 2 minutes. The music is annoying and the levels to easy. Not the best, try Mercury Revolution instead, all the things this game should be.

Rated - 3 starsExcellent Puzzle Type Game

Kororinpa is a very adictive maze type game that makes full use of the Wii Controller motion sensitivity to control a marble around different mazes in the game. It does however become a little boring after a while.
