Brief synopsis of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2

The face of war has changed. Enemy lines blur, and there is no longer a clear opponent. New enemies and new threats require a new type of warfare - a new type of soldier. Enter the Ghosts. In 2013, the U.S. Army will implement and Integrated Warfighter System (IWS), evolving what we know as the modern soldier. IWS combines advanced weapon systems, satellite communication devices and enhanced survivability into one fully integrated combat system. The IWS program has been developed to meet these new threats head on. Now, it can be tested on the battlefield. Following an insurgence in the heart of Mexico City, the U.S. Army's most elite Special Forces team is deployed to the center of the conflict to regain control of the city. Greatly outnumbered but fully equipped with the IWS, this elite team is the first and last line of defense on the battlefield. They are the "Quiet" professionals. They are the Ghosts.

This game is a complete waste of time. Having bought an PS3 as a Blu-Ray player it came with Fall of Man - a top game.

I had not played games for over ten years, but me and the Girlfriend completed this in a couple of weeks playing it every night.

I rented Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 expecting more of the same, however the game is impossible!

One shot and you die, in 2 player mode the first player to die cannot re-spawn so it becomes a 1 player game on a split screen.

Also the view is cluttered with loads of coloured squares and Triangles, I guess they serve a purpose, but none of the on-disc documentation tells you what!

If you have not tried it get Resistance Fall of man, but whatever you do avoid wasting your time on this game!

Rated - 2 starsGood in parts

Bought the game (first mistake)...Initial thought of single play mode was excellent. Graphics beautiful & game play very easy to get used to. The only issue I found was that I managed to complete it within a week (a couple of hours a evening).

Sooo, then you have no choice but to move online in order to get the most out of the £40-£50 you pay for a game. Now Im no stranger to online play and have spent years in a clan with the online Battlefield series for the PC and Im afraid that I found this particular online experience clunky in comparison even with 6M download speeds.

Sooo, what about the 2 player local play I hear you ask? Invite around mate, set up 2 player mode, tell him that if its anyting like the single player mode he is in for a real treat. Only problem is its nothing like the single player mode, its full of confusing AI bots and strange coloured squares..rubbish

So my advice should you wish to take it... Rent the game, play the single player mode, send it back and get someting else..

Rated - 4 starsA good tactical shooter

AJF from Swindon [Highly rated reviewer] , 25/02/2008

I've played all the incarnations of Ubisoft's tactical shooters, including Rainbow Six and the first version of Ghost Recon. Contrary to the other reviews, I found the control system quite easy to master. The tutorial mission does a very good job in familiarising you with the commands and HUD information. I liked the ability to send a remote drone to scan the terrain. There's actually a very limited command set, which does simplify things a lot.

This is a tactical shooter, meaning you generally can't just charge in and expect to last too long. You must use your team members wisely and head for cover in the presence of enemy soldiers. I would say if anything, the team members are slightly too good at taking out hostiles on normal difficulty. For more of a challenge, try the realistic mode, where one shot kills.

In general this game does compare well with the previous Ghost Recon, although I would prefer more flexibility with multiple teams - you only get to control one team. In previous games you were able to set up flanking maneouvres.

Good graphics, decent amount of weapons. Over average storyline. Worth a rent!
