Brief synopsis of F.E.A.R.

You aren't a soldier. You are a weapon. A mysterious paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound, taking hostages but issuing no demands. A Special Forces team is sent in by the government to contain the situation, but contact is severed as an eerie signal interrupts radio communications. When the interference subsides moments later, the team has been obliterated. Live footage of the massacre shows an inexplicable wave of destruction tearing the soldiers apart before they can even react.

In light of the desperate situation the F.E.A.R. team is assembled. As part of this elite classified strike force created to deal with the most unusual and shocking of threats, your mission is simple: Eliminate the intruders at any cost. Determine the origin of the signal and contain this crisis before it spirals out of control.

First and foremost, this game is a port. The development studio have simply translated the code from the 360 version to get it to work on the PS3. What this means is that you get no next-gen characteristics to this game at all. Graphics, sound, AI are all firmly rooted in PS2 era.

This doesn't make it a bad game by any means, and the story line is strong enough to keep you interested. But don't think this game is the future of the platform (indeed don't think of it as the present). 360 fans have been using this game as evidence that the 360 is the better hardware - It isn't (no really it isn't), but if the studio continue to roll out this level of game then it might as well be.

Resistance is a better PS3 title if first person shooters are your thing, and even CoD3 has gorgeous graphics to look at, even with a weak storyline.

Until the platform has matured a bit, I would be careful about buying any titles without doing my homework. Basic ports of this kind do nothing for the PS3.

I bought the PS3 for top quality (in every sense) games - graphics, gameplay, HD quality etc etc etc!!!

I switched this off after 20 mins - 10 of which I was made to wait around for the loading to finish and the bogus story line.

THE GRAPHICS!!!!!!!!

Are soooooooo poor !!! Part of the reason I turned off - thankfully this was a rental. I would have been cheesed off if I bought this with hard cash!!!

DONT EVEN RENT THIS!!!

This was my most wanted rent, it sounded fun and even though it had bad reviews I thought it couldnt be that bad. and I was so pleased when it came this morning, after about 15 minutes of movies, you start the game, its scary in some places and I was looking forward to that, but thing you notice is how poor the graphics are, this is suppost to be a ps3 game?! The story sound fun at the begining, but all you do is walk through hundreds of offices, halls and rooms finding bodies or shooting guards. Its also quite easy, even though its hard to aim. I also tried online which is more fun but there was only 1 room and about 6 people playing. You can slow down time which is quite fun for a minute or two, but after about an hour I took the disk out, put it back in the envolope and sent it back. If anything this should of been released on ps2. Do not even bother renting! Try Resistance of Graw2 instead.

Bitterly dissapointed with this game, dispite all the hype it looks like a PS2 game, the graphics are square, the movement is jerky and badly animated, the only saving grace is the odd lighting effect. Rubbish graphics, not worthy of the PS3, dont even bother !
