Brief synopsis of Marvel : Ultimate Alliance

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance features a deep, rich gameplay experience by offering total team customization, where players create their own team name, icon and vehicle, as well as establish their team reputation as they play throughout the story. Gamers also have the option to level up each character individually to their liking, or all team members at the same time to keep their heroes balanced. With the games new combat system, players battle against the worlds most notorious Marvel Super Villains in the air, underwater, and on the ground, using grappling, blocking and dodging moves, by charging up their Super Hero powers before unleashing them, and using environmental objects as one and two-handed weapons.

Rated - 3 starsHmm This is a Tough One

I am struggling more and more to see what the many, many gamers find so appealing about this game. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and to some degree entertaining but i find it hard to see it as anything more than x2 on the psx with marvel characters. Very boring imo, not enough going on at times to justify moving between sections and, even in two player, a little on the dull side of life.

I can imagine this is a blast with 4 players but with just two, it's pretty bland. Graphics are nothing to write home about, very last generation, sound isn't great, voiceovers are suitably camp and cheesy and the plot is as wild as you'd expect.

If you like marvel in general, you'll probably love this! It is the single biggest homage to the marvel universe ever created in the gaming world and is absolutely massive, you really do get to tear the whole world apart and really experience the comic feel. if you have a few mates round, it's probably awesome, if your on your own or with a single mate and your not a marvel fan, this is probably going to get dull pretty quick.

Don't take my word as gospel though, i'm not a huge marvel fan anymore, i didn't give it the time it deserved and this is strictly a first impressions review for non-marvel fan gamers.

Yeah, so this game is ok. It certainly isn't an RPG like the blurb suggests, but it is kinda cool in places.

You can control a whole bunch of Marvel Characters, all of which have different special moves, upgrades, yada yada.

The idea is to scroll along the screen bashin' up enemies, reaching your destination (which sometimes feels like a total mission) and then fighting an end boss.

Unfortauntly, this game is totally ruined by the camera, which is so far back, you can barely see whats going on unless you squint.

Which, if an interesting game would totally ruin it. Problem is, the main part of this game is just bashing A over and over.

yeah, not that exciting.

Give it a rent if you like Marvel, otherwise i wouldnt really bother.
