Brief synopsis of Hercules

HERCULES is a rollicking, tongue-in-cheek Disney film based on the Greek myth. Forget those legendary labours--this teenage Herc is the goofy and lovable adopted scion of mortal parents, toiling on earth to prove himself to Zeus, his Olympian dad. His demi-god gifts score him money, fame, and product endorsements, but he can't attain full deity (or "True Hero") status--and defeat a jealous Hades--without the help of his satyr friend, Phil, and the true love of beautiful Megara. This entertaining animated fantasy features the voices of Tate Donovan, Danny DeVito, James Woods, and more.

usaul disney tale of the ancient greek hero hercules as he battles against hades so he can go back to being immortal with zues. Bigs up to danny devito as phil adding lots of humour to this flick as he is perfect as the short and stumpy phil trainging hercules (its strange they really do look alike)

I think the humour really stands out in this film hades and Phil really add to the laughs, the only downside i feel is the musical score which is one of the weaker entries for disney on this front

Great stuff

Walt Disney is my favourite company when it comes to producing films. Hercules falls short compared to the likes of the frankly flawless ' The Hunchback Of Notre Damne' and ' Pocahontas' but still delivers. this film is based upon the ' Toils Of Heracles' and much more. Heracles is better known as Hercules to the Romans but we just forget that and go with the flow for the movie. Pain & Panick were really funny henchmen who are actually henchmen of Ares not Hades. Hades{James Woods} is really funny too. i really like Philoctetes ' Phil'{ Danny DeVito} and i saw this movie when i was a kid and have loved it ever since. Bond's meeting with the Nessos was a great set up for him and Megara { based upon an actual event in Greek myth.} i like the fact they have made ' Meg' also known as Megara his first TRUE love. i really liked how the redid Here as a kindly mother { in Greek mythology she is responsible for the capture and mortality of Hercules}. but in this film we have some real emotional scenes like Hercules being captured by Pain & Panick then raised by a kind mortal couple which really has a lot of soul in it' storyline. i thought all the songs were top notch, but why do The Muses{proclaimers of Heroes, Gods of the Arts} sing about ' The Gospel Truth' that is of Biblical content. but despite this the opening is jazzy and Rip Torn is great at voicing Zeus. Pegasus was a nice touch as Hercules's horse { although in Greek myth Pegasus is Percius 's horse} this film borrows off mostly all the Greek stories and studies them really well. all in all you should see this. The Hydras, Titans etc provide great movie monsters. ***

Rated - 4 starsWho puts the Glad in Gladiator - Hercules

Disney does it again, this is a fun cartoon adventure we follow Hercules from his birth to his ensueing manhood and from those that would wish him harm with a really good soundtrack. Anyone who likes 'smokey joe's cafe' type of music will love this the muses are brilliant with their telling of the story with that sassy diva style and James Wood is excellent as Hades. Definately one that all the family can enjoy. My kids liked it so much that now I've got to buy it!!
