Brief synopsis of Dangerous Beauty

The sensuous true story of the woman who defied convention in 16th-century Venice. Catherine McCormack plays Veronica Franco who, under the knowing tutelage of her mother, becomes a courtesan to the rich and powerful. She'll pay a price. Veronica may have to turn away forever from the nobleman she loves. And she may stand alone when the Inquisition charges her wiles as witchcraft.

Enjoyed the settings and cinematography of this film, basic poor girl unable to marry rich guy. Not much employment at the time - so becomes a courtesan. It is not at all high brow or trying to be other than it is - an enjoyable romp

Absolutely beautifully made film, I'd watch it for the cinematography alone but thankfully it's got a great story line with Veronica Franco making an early stand for womens' rights.

This film was originally titled The Honest Courtesan so some fans like me may have been confused. Fantastic film with lots of lovely weepy moments. Tissues ready girls!

Rated - 5 starsAbsolutely beautiful!

Beautifully written and wonderfully acted, Catherine McCormack successfully portrays Veronica Franco, a courtesan in 16th Century Venice hopelessly in love with the one man she can't have. She portrays the gentleness, vulnerability and passion that Veronica possesses and was completely enchanting. The costumes are dazzling and the script, emotively written.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone and highly enjoyed it!
