Brief synopsis of Arrested Development - Series 3

"Arrested Development" revolves around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), a widower who wants nothing more than to be a good father to his 13-year-old son George Michael (Michael Cera). Michael resolves to quit the family business and move away to spend more quality time with his son. But when his father, George Bluth SR. (Jeffrey Tambor), is arrested for shifty accounting practices and the family assets are frozen, Michael is forced to stay in Orange County to help his wildly eccentric family pick up the pieces.

Rated - 5 starsFANTASTIC!

Series 3 of Arrested Development continues the story of Michael Bluth, trying to hold his family together! This is absolutely hilarious, and the plot really thickens this series. I would advise watching the other two series before this one, to truly understand the relationships and history of the family - it's only this way you can REALLY appreciate how hilarious this is! Apparently the series has been cancelled now, as it didn't have the best airing times in America or here, but it's got a MASSIVE cult following! Don't miss out! You'll be quoting it for months afterwards!

The final episode is not funny and rushed.

The series itself is quite ok, but the whole thing seems rushed, as though the cast and writers just wanted it to end quickly. In the last two episodes there are a few twists which seem to have been put in for the sake of a story, rather than for the benefit of the script for the fans to enjoy.

No thought has been put into any artistic merit, more thought has been put into ending the series and being done with it.

Disappointing.

This is an extraordinarily well-written, directed and acted TV show. Hilarious, quirky and at times moving, it's full of fabulous catchphrases and punchlines that you can use in conversation and pass off as your own.........

The characters are generally unlikable, yet lovable and the relationships far more complex than most sitcoms allow. The 'documentary-style' shooting makes the bizarre Bluth family strangely believable.

It is also beautifully plotted, often with seemingly throw-away lines/events proving to be pivotal in the climax of each episode/story arc and lots of twists and turns. All of this is capably supported by the use of brilliant original music.

Overall, this is superb and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something 'a bit different.' Actually, I'd recommend it to anyone at all.

Rated - 4 starsWhy Arrest a perfectly good development.

Finally a breath of fresh air from the States. Apparently the series was written with too British a sense of humour so most of America didn't get the joke! Shame as this actually was written and acted brilliantly. The cast was terrific and the performances good. If you enjoy Sarcastic comedy rent it.
