this film is a superb film about real friendship. Francois is a middle aged Parisian, who has everything he wants. he has a rewarding job as an antiques dealer, a beautiful apartment, a very loving girlfriend, and a teenage daughter.

What he soon realizes though, is that he does not have, any true friends.

A bet is made - Francois has 10 days to come up with a best friend, to show off to his colleagues, or he will lose his newly acquired antique Greek vase.

He begins a search, to find a friend, which is very funny.

As Francois rides through Paris in search of his bet-winning friend, he meets, a general knowledge and trivia knowing taxi driver called Bruno.

The two of them seem to meet over and over again, in very funny situations. Is Bruno, destined to be Francois - new best friend? watch the film to find out, as i am not going to spoil it, by telling you.

well worth watching.

I sometimes find French movies slightly heavy going, but this is certainly one of the better ones. Francois (Daniel Auteuil) has concentrated on his antiques business and has had no real time for other poeple or friends in his life, when challenged in a bet for an expensive antique vase to produce a 'best friend' he searches fervently for somone he can actually term a friend of any sort, let alone 'best' and the results are both funny and poignant... The review on these pages by Felicity Williams says it all...one of the best subtitled movies I have seen.

It definately deserves a watch

"My Best Friend" is an amiable but somewhat dull barely humourous French film starring Daniel Auteuil as an antiques dealer who is seeking a best friend after being told that he doesnt have any friends by some business acquaintances. He hires a taxi driver to help him make friends only for the taxi driver to gradually become the best friend he is seeking. The film climaxes with the taxi drivers appearance on the French "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire " show with Auteuil helping him in the "Phone a Friend" section. All fairly forgettable stuff.
