Brief synopsis of Fragile

Creaking along the dank, filthy corridors, metal rods piercing her skin, down to her brittle bones, the creature the terrified children call "The Mechanical Girl" roams in the shadows. When Amy (Calista Flockhart) arrives at the remote, dilapidated Mercy falls Children's Hospital to replace a nurse who left shortly before, she finds the patients have been the victims of a number of inexplicable attacks. Amy befriends Maggie, a child who says she has been speaking to "Charlotte", a mechanical girl she believes lives on the second floor that has been closed for forty years. Whatever is happening at Mercy Falls, Amy knows the despicable figure lurking on the floor above them holds the answers.

This is not a bad wee chiller that should have reached a wider cinema audience. Considering some of the crap and so called chiller/horror i have had to endure recently, this came as a nice surprise. Best thing Ms Flockhart has done in ages

Okay so there are holes in the plot, it has all been done before and so on. However Flockhart is surprising good in a role that doesn't depend on her self analytic posing. Good support in the ever reliable Roxbrough and suitably atmospheric in the right places. This isn't going to make you scream but the odd jump comes in handy.

Wooden acting from all the cast. Not in the least scary. Very predictable. Not even good enough to be a B movie. The most frightening aspect is that I can't remember why it was on my list!

No cliche left unturned here. Big old spooky building? Check. Constant rain? Check. Strange goings on that only one person believes are going on? Check? Bad acting? Check. Awful script that thinks that exposition is the same as narrative? Check. Avoid like the plague? Do yourself a favour and check.

They say that a film is only as good as it's lead actor or actress . That's where Fragile falls down straight away. I have never seen Calista Flockhart either in TV or film before . I have never watched Ally Mcbeal although i understand it was very popular in it's time. On this performance i fail to understand why.

This is the story of an American nurse who takes a job in a children's hospital on the Isle of white in the UK ( don't laugh) after being accused of negligence in her last job.

It's not long before she realises that there is something seriously wrong with the hospital and especially the spooks on the second floor.

I'm not sure what made me decide to watch this film but i wish i hadn't.

Flockhart is annoying as hell . She struts around as if suffering a bad case of PMT and pulls stupid expressions with her strange plastic face and i am going to make sure i avoid anything she does in the future.

Good luck also if you can understand what Nurse Helen is saying . Her accent is very strange.

As for the story , it is very slow up until the last half hour then it actually gets a little interesting but its still not enough to save it from being a turkey.
