Brief synopsis of Gray Matters

Gray (Heather Graham) and Sam (Thomas Cavanagh) are inseparable. They live together, take ballroom dancing classes, and jog in the park together. They'd make a very attractive couple were it not for the fact that they're brother and sister. In a bright and beautiful version of Manhattan, where every day appears to be kissed with spring sunshine, Gray keeps herself busy hanging with Sam, working for an advertising agency, and attending kooky sessions with her flaky therapist, Sydney (Sissy Spacek). All is well, until brother Sam up and falls in love with the gorgeous zoologist, Charlie (Bridget Moynahan). Gray is happy for him, but panicked about how it will affect their relationship--particularly after Sam announces that he and Charlie are getting married. Gray does her best to cope and be supportive, but things take an unexpected turn when she suddenly finds herself sharing a drunken, passionate kiss with Charlie the night before the wedding. The next day, Charlie doesn't even recall their embrace. But the kiss has opened up a whole new world for Gray. GRAY MATTERS is an ultra-light look at homosexuality and the challenges of coming out late in life. Graham's cutely neurotic Gray comes off as a sort of lesbian Lucille Ball--silly, and without much substance. However, it is perhaps a positive sign for the gay rights movement that they now even have their own powder-puff rom-coms--the kind that seem ready-made for teen slumber parties. Alan Cumming and Molly Shannon lend a bit of comedic spark with their turns as Gray's supportive, outspoken pals.

Rated - 2 starsRomantic comedy that takes sibling rivalry to a whole new level

Siblings Gray (Heather Graham) an advertising executive, and Sam (Thomas Cavanagh) a surgeon, are so close that everyone gets the impression that they are a couple. They live together, jog together, finish each other's sentences, and like the same classic movies. That all changes the day Gray introduces Sam to Charlie (Bridget Moynahan) a charming zoologist who's ready to settle down. Sparks fly, and as soon as the two start making wedding plans Gray begins to feel pangs of regret. No, it's not that she wants her brother back, but that she . . . This comedy is an ultra-light look at homosexuality and the challenges of coming out late in life. This is light entertainment to watch with your girlfriends. I found so many scenes annoying that I rate this 1,5 star and I wish Heather Graham stopped wasting her talent playing cute neurotics. If you want something more classy on this topic rent “Kissing Jessica Stein” instead which I would rate 3,5 star.

Rated - 3 starsA nice easy watch

First of all lets get this straight!! Oooer This movie will win no oscars. However if you want a nice movie to float over your head with then you can't go wrong with this. Grey and her brother are both single, they spend every waking moment together and people think they are a couple. However Greys world is turned upside down when her brother meets a woman and propses within 24 hours.

There are some very funny moments especially with Greys therapist who takes her to various activites for there therapy sessions!!!!

I was annoyed at one scene when the two women got into the bath and were making out it was a friendship thing!! I don't go into the bath with my mates!!!!!!! It seemed to be there purley for the heterosexual male viewer.

The ending is a bit predictable I won't spoil it here for you but this movie makes a nice sunday afternoon viewing.

Rated - 2 starsAnother take but....

Looking forward to watching this but it never captured or lived up to my expectations and even as I was getting into the movie, the end titles were rolling and I felt cheated. Although the story line was a new take on the usual exploring gays and coming out, it still left me somewhat wanting. I most probably would not recommend this movie and only if someone was really bored and there was nothing more to watch would this be an option.
