Brief synopsis of Cold Prey

It's midwinter. Five youngsters are heading for the Jotunheimen mountain area to go snowboarding. On the slope, one of then has a bad fall and breaks a leg. There is no sign of any other people around, and their mobile phones are out of range. They catch sight of a mountain hotel in the distance, and decide to find shelter there. The hotel lies empty and silent, obviously closed down years ago. The phone lines are dead, and the youngsters realize they have to spend the night in the hotel. But it turns out they're not alone, In the basement they discover a filthy dungeon of a room, where somebody has recently lived...

At first i thought this title was going to be another one of those films where you had a few teenagers in some random setting crying out for help all the time. The film did contain some parts which you would probably see in any other horror flick. Thankfully this horror turned out to be quite different to others i have seen in the past and in the end was actually worth a watch.

Rated - 4 starssomething different for a change

I thought this was an excellent and different film, very well acted, directed and edited. A definite sense of fear and terror which was convincingly portrayed by the cast - no stupid American style scream fests! The reason and background to the 'bad guy' are not really explained which left me with a feeling of 'what was the point', but the thrills, spills and pain the characters went through made up for this.

Put a side the subtitles, which did not detract from the film, but you need to concentrate all the time to keep up as they speak pretty fast. This is worth a viewing by anyone who enjoys a good scare!

Rated - 4 starsnorwegian stalk 'n' slash

when i rented this film i didnt realise it was a norwegian film with english subtitles but unlike the last time i made that mistake i was pleasently suprised with this film, the plot and story are run of the mill but it was very well acted by the small cast and we didnt have to put up with a silly ending which you tend to get nowadays in hollywood horrors. well worth watching!

Hammy start is hard to sit through but once the scene is set there's plenty of tension. Of course it all progresses pretty much as you'd expect but it's quite well done. Not a great film but ok for those times when a late night B movie fills a gap.
