Brief synopsis of Flatliners - BLU-RAY Version

A tense thriller in which hot-shot medical students embark on a series of daring experiments to get a peek at the face of death. Stopping their hearts until the vital signs register as flat lines, they then revive the subject. The group doesn't count on bringing anything back from their near-death experiences, but each one does.

A medical student (Kiefer Sutherland) convinces four other students (Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin) to help him with an experiment, to shut down his heart for a short time to experience death. After the success of the experiment and the others give it a go, but the joy was short lived when they discover they didn't come back alone.

From the Gothic campus setting to the surreal death experiences, it gives this film a generally dark and unsettling atmosphere. The film looks top notch but the problem was I couldn't careless what happen to the majority of characters. The characters and as well the story seemed to be undeveloped. The film's pace was alright with a few slow parts, but it definitely could've been shorter.

This Blue-Ray version was nothing to write home about picture wise. I guess it could have had a lot to do with the overall darkness throughout the movie.

fairly entertaining [not as good as I remember it] film with good blu-ray picture and decent audio considering the age of the film.

This film has aged very well I must say.It is 18 years old but looks very good even now. There are a few mullet haircuts and phoneboxes, which are rarely seen nowadays, but otherwise it still looks great. It isn't an FX laden film either,it's more psychological,so again nothing to make it look bad.

Good Blu Ray transfer, decent sound, and excellent performances from all, particularly Kevin Bacon and Oliver Platt.

If you haven't seen this film for a few years then it is definitely worth seeing again.
