Rated - 5 starsThe Best Who story so far

nickx303 from Rotherham, SY, UK [Highly rated reviewer] , 19/08/2007

Having seen the 3 episodes that are on this DVD on tv,

I would have to say that these have to be the most action packed,

well written and entertaining episodes of the series so far.

The Trilogy ties up a lot of dangling teasers placed throughout the season (as is usual with every who season) and even the 1st season finale of Torchwood.

Utopia is basically a scene setter for the next 2 parts.

But does have the brilliant Derek Jacobi bringing back the Master. And then followed by the excellent John Simm, (aka Sam Tyler in Life on Mars), who really put in a truly manic over the top performance as a regenerated Master.

In The Sound of Drums, The Master has his foothold over the UK, his plan has been in action for nearly 18 months. With the Doctor's return the story evolves and the viewer finds themself literally on the edge of their seats as it leads to the cliffhanger ending.

Last of the Time Lords is full of drama, action, tears, emotion.

It's one year later The Doctor is losing the battle, his last hope is Martha Jones, but where is she, is she about to reveal herself.

She has traveled the world and followed the Doctor's instructions spreading the word. Will she be able to save the world, the doctor, jack & her family.

And listen out for a surprising revelation from Jack, that will make you look at 3 episodes from the whole series (s1e2, s2e1 & s3e3) differently from now on.

Rated - 5 stars'Doctor Who - Series 3 Vol.4'

Makeba35 from Bristol , 23/12/2007

Wow! what a ride. My family and I loved every min of this series. But I can't believe Martha's decision to stay behind at the end. As far as we are concerned, she was the tops as side kick and we want her back! I hope she rings him up and they have more exciting adventures. This new series wa so well written and it was perfectly paced. More more more is what we have to say.

Rated - 5 starsDr Who - Series 3 Pt 4

KelAndTrace from Sleaford , 08/05/2008

Loved it - Has to be some of the best episodes yet, very moving, very entertaining.

David Tennant, in our opinion, is the best Dr Who yet, and he proves his acting ability in this part of the series.

Rated - 1 starsbad example of the new Dr who series

A customer from Cambs , 12/05/2008

Utopia

Has some good ideas but done badly as the very last humans at the very end of time fighting some pointy teeth savages in a gravel pit with some 20th century weapons. derek jacobi is good but the above concept on screen looks terrible.

The Sound Of Drums & Last Of The Timelords

oh dear, for a serious episode it turns into really bad panto, you never feel the threat of the end of the world. The 3 previous episodes (family of blood 2 parter and blink) show how good the show can be and do serious and also fun episodes) But the final is OTT in a bad way and the Dr turning into Gollum then tinkerbell is laughable. Then to make it worse, the big star trek reset button is hit at the end

Rated - 3 starsAnd so it ends...

I found the finale a little disappointing - it is well written and produced, and yet the character of the Master doesn't ring true to me, as someone who was brought up on Roger Delgado as the Master.
