Brief synopsis of Surf's Up

Surf's Up is an exciting arcade surfing and extreme sports video game. The action is set at the annual "Reggie Belafonte Big Z Memorial Surf Off," where surfers from around the world are ready to risk it all for glory. Players will experience the rush and thrills of surfing in exotic surf spots around Pen Gu Island and can rip it up and play as one of 10 characters from the film, including Cody, the young challenger from Shiverpool; Tank, the merciless champion; or Big Z, the surfing legend from the past. Only by mastering and understanding the waves can the player become not only the new champion, but a true surf legend.

this game takes next to no time (6 hours max) and might bug you collecting the statues but here is a great guide at www.x360.org to make its even easier. the site has a great community to solve any of your point based needs.

Rated - 3 starsGamerscore

This is a tough game to rate.

Firstly - Gamerscore (the theme of all my reviews and the reason I rent) - This is quite possibly the easiest 1000pts I have ever got (I have not played Avatar yet!).

Secondly - Gameplay - This is possibly the most basic game ever invented. There are 13 surfing levels and 3 leaf slides. So the game is complete in about 30 mins. It then takes about another 2 - 4 hours to get all the collectibles. To perform a trick you press a button (you can use the right analogue stick but there is no point). It plays fine and there is no annoying moments. Graphics are ok.

So - easy 1000, technically bad game that does not offend too much. Good fun if you liked the film (it was pretty good) - and lets face it, it is meant for kids so can we really complain that much about it being so lazy and basic?

Rated - 1 starkids love it, I hate it

A customer from leicester , 24/09/2007

This is the most pointless and diabolical game I have ever played I hated it from the start. You have little to do and what you do is dull and unimaginative. The control system is simple the aim of the game is simple a three year old can complete most the challenges with no effort. I think there are at the most 15 courses. I think the developers should be prosecuted for producing such garbage. On the other hand all the reasons i hated it are why my small children loved it.

Rated - 3 starsFun game

The menus are stylized to match the movie's feel, the actors lend their voices, the in-game action looks good and the game-play can be fun.

Your goal on the waves is to rack up the highest score possible by grinding on rails, passing through glowing gates and pulling off air-grabbing tricks while jumping off a massive tidal wave that's always on the side of the screen.

When you're first getting the hang of hanging ten, Surf's Up brings out the kid in all of us with bright colors and collectibles, but there's a shark in the water -- you can beat Surf's Up in about three hours.

Graphics 7 (decent water, good characters, colorful environment)

Sound 5 (actual actors but poor songs and repetitive character lines)

Game-play 5 (apart from just tapping A, B or Y there isn't much else)

Lastability 6 (finish it in 3 collect the rest of the collectibles in another 2...done!!!)

Overall I had fun with Surf's Up..a recommended rental..and very EASY achievement points.
