Brief synopsis of Pangya! Golf with Style

Ever since the Wii came out, complete with pack-in game Wii Sports, owners of the console have been clamouring for a fun, fully realised golf game. With Pangya: Golf With Style, Tecmo hopes to deliver.

Pangya's roots lie in the exotic realms of online gaming in Asia, and it brings a (dare we say it) quirky sense of fun to the Wii. Rather than playing with the likes of Tiger Woods, you'll be playing with a large cast of cutesy and eccentric manga-like characters, ranging from young ladies in extremely short skirts and bikinis to silver haired muscular men.

You can also kiss goodbye to thoughts of close-to-life courses. Instead, you'll be knocking shots between floating islands, dodging windmills and bouncing your drives between pyramids.

As with any good sports game, a multiplayer option is present and accounted for. There are three multiplayer options to try your hand at, two of which allow up to four players to compete with one remote.

Pangya also offers more depth than Wii Sports golf, with a dozen or so 18 hole courses to play through. The sizeable roster of characters also offers a high level of customisation, with tons of new outfits and accessories made available as you progress through the game.

One of the worst games we have rented to date. The playability is terrible and I expected so much more from the graphics.

All new golf games on the Wii have a lot to live up to after the Wii Sports golf.

Pangya! Golf with Style has delivered a great looking game which utilises the Wii controls very well which is what Tiger Woods 2007 failed to do.

It's a fun game to play with lots of courses, tournaments, opponents and equipment to purchase which in turn helps to build up your characters attributes.

I don't write reviews very often , but this was game was so bad I felt I had to , the game isn't at all user friendly (unlike most wii games) the controls are a pain and the loading takes ages . It was the first wii game that we haven't liked and I am so glad I didn't waste my money and buy it before renting .

I loved the idea of earning points in the games to reward you by letting you customise/improve your player and caddy and the anime-style graphics give it quite an appealingly kooky edge but… man, this game is unforgiving. It’s probably just the fact that I’m hopeless at golf anyway but the motion sensitive controls are really difficult to get anywhere with unless you’re incredibly good or playing a human opponent of similar skill – even the easiest computer controlled characters seem disturbingly accurate. Fortunately it comes with a button-based ‘classic’ control scheme as well for those of us who aren’t very good at hitting the ball straight!
