this midsomer murder is superb. The plot is about the rivalry, between traditional film photographers and digital camera fans in the village of Luxton Deeping.

This rivalry reaches fever pitch, at the annual photographic society exhibition, when snapper Steve Bright threatens black and white film enthusiast Lionel Bell.

Lionel is photographing his favourite oak trees in Luxton Wood, when he is strangled with the cord from his light meter.

A memory card from a digital camera is found in his mouth.

Tom Barnaby and his intelligent sidekick Ben Jones start the investigation into the death.

The plot has many twists and turns. with underpinning currents and long unsolved mysteries adding to the bemusement of the detectives. There are usually false leads—so-called 'red herrings'—like those who have committed petty crimes or harbour some dark secret they attempt to conceal from the world. Despite the sinister, atmospheric edge that runs through the show, it maintains a consistent sense of humour.

Well worth watching.

I've seen every episode, bar a couple of the latest ones, of Midsomer Murders. This one has quite a lot of black comedy, a not too complicated plot and all the ingredients that MM addicts have come to love - the bizarre characters, murders in an Antiques Roadshow/Homes and Gardens setting, reliable DCI Barnaby solving the case. What's not to love ?
