Brief synopsis of Lost Room, The - Season 1

From the Overlook Hotel in THE SHINING to the Bates Motel in PSYCHO, inns haven't gotten a good rap in the world of books and film. In THE LOST ROOM, the Sunshine Motel doesn't fare much better. Decades ago, supernatural forces transformed Room 10 at the motel into a cache of magical power in which each object in the room can do something special. Detective Joe Miller (Peter Krause, SIX FEET UNDER) discovers a mysterious key that changes his life. His daughter (Elle Fanning, BABEL) disappears into the room, and the key is the only thing that can help Joe find her again. But he isn't the only one who wants the precious objects, causing hordes of obsessive collectors to descend on him. With its labyrinthine plot and imaginative premise, THE LOST ROOM garnered praise from critics and audiences alike. This Sci-Fi channel miniseries also stars Julianna Margulies (ER), Kevin Pollak (THE USUAL SUSPECTS), and Roger Bart (DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES).

I saw the trailer for this on a DVD and I thought I'd give it a go. I thought it was a film but it turned out to be a (mini) series. The storyline had me hooked within the first half hour and I spent the night watching all the episodes even though I had an early start the next day. The storyline really has you thinking and guessing as the plot twists and turns. I cant understand why the American audiences havent lapped it up unless they're more used to easily digestible fodder shows where you dont have to think. I cant believe that the studio hasnt given the green light to the second season yet, even when the creator has said he has more great ideas for the show. Watch this and tell me I'm wrong!

Rated - 5 starsThe little known masterpiece (For Now)

Please give this a go for I beleive you won't be dissapointed. This is a trully original series that lifts the Sci-Fi bar to the next level. Watch the first 15 mins of the first episode and you may think 'whens it going to start'. At this point you meet the man with the bus pass....and boy does it take off. The premis is that somehow a hotel room gets knocked out of existence only to be located by ' the key' and all of it's 'Objects' within that room have a special power. The story arc is over 6 episodes and does come to a conclusion....but it will leave you begging for more. I hope they make another longer series, as it is fantastic TV.

What a brilliant series, as good as Lost and Heroes, I was hooked straight away, the acting is superb, and the plot very well thought out.

I can't wait for series 2, and wonder how long it is before everyone realises what a great series this is and starts talking about it!

Rated - 5 starsLoved it

This is the best mini series I have seen for a long time. Short but totally brilliant. The story is fantastically wierd and wonderful and it all fits together really well. Every episode is full of excitement, magic, tension, humour and menace so it really keeps you hooked. The characters are excellent - each desparate in their own way so you never quite know who to trust. I especially like the bus ticket guy - he is pure comedy! The Lost Room is highly recommended.
