Brief synopsis of Battalion Wars 2

Sequel to Battalion Wars for the GameCube, Battalion Wars 2 uses the Wii's intuitive control system to give the player full control over his troops - be it giving them order or taking them into battle first hand.

Rated - 3 starsWorks surprisingly well on the Wii

Having played the first Batallion Wars on the Gamecube I was quite concerned at just how Kuju would manage to squeeze all of the various controls into the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, and I needn't have, because if anything they are better than the old scheme. You can jump between your various squads with ease, and on the later levels you'll have to in order to keep one step ahead of the enemy.

There is also more variety this time around and you jump from one nation to the next throughout the storyline rather than just following one all the way through.

All in all, a fine addition to the Wii's catalogue of games.

This was my first rental from Tesco, and I was reasonably pleased with the game. The graphics are good for the Wii, and the game starts by guiding you through the levels and giving you helpful pointers and tutorials. This makes for an easy game to pick up initially, as there is quite a simple learning curve. However, after a little while I found myself getting frustrated, as the game cannot decide whether it's a shooter or a strategy title. I would recommend this game for rental at least, but would be wary of buying without trying it first - enjoy!
