Brief synopsis of Overlord

Overlord is a groundbreaking action adventure, set in a seriously warped fantasy world. You begin the game as a wonderfully despotic character complete with a small team of loyal minion side-kicks. As areas of the kingdom are conquered, you, as the Overlord, grow in might to become the supremely powerful force, equipped with devastating spells and a devoted horde of toothsome-but-ugly-all-the-same minions at your command. These minions believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game, you actively control a group of these gremlin-like critters that will follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or - for the Minions - life threatening it is.

Only your actions will determine if you will rise to become the new, all-powerful Overlord; it's all down to how much of a bad ass you want to be in order to succeedevil or totally evil! Played out with plenty of black humour and dark irony, the game sweeps you up in twisted parodies of fantasy characters and scenarios.

As the Overlord develops, so does his need for ever more effective armour and weaponry. Giant smelters containing rare metals 'recovered' on pillaging raids can forge heavy-duty weaponry that reflects your growing magnificence. Along with the metals, the odd minion soul can also be thrown in to the forge's fire to enchant new items... a few hundred fiery Red minions tossed into smelter will make for a suitably impressive flaming sword.

After commanding minions and conquering the land, the Overlord still has a base to rebuild. At the start of the game, your tower is in ruins. As lands are claimed, artefacts looted and enemies slain, it is restored to its former glory as your imposing Dark Tower, inhabited by hundreds of minions.

Within the Dark Tower is the Throne Room; from here, you can travel to and from the outside world via the Tower Portal. Down in the Dungeon, specimens of defeated enemies are kept in readiness for the Overlord and your minion horde to have a bit of fun with. Meanwhile, in the Overlord's Private Quarters, take a break from world domination and enjoy the company of your mistress. Ooh!

i personally hated this game! boaring and childish, the stupid things you control die in seconds and you dont feel as if you are doing anything as all you do is watch from a far wile these creatures do everything hence boaring.... try yourself if you dare?

long and boring. too many tasks at the same time, no sequential way of completing the game and you die way too easily!

worth the rental. but wouldnt ever buy it.

if you have ever played pickmin for the game cube and liked it then you will love this. basics are you control a small army that follow you around do all the hard work for you as you find more objects and solve puzzles using their abilities your army gets bigger and more powerfull difference between this and many other games that give you followers is you really do control them. only problem with it was cliches in the saving system which left you unable to carry on (bewarned do not return to your tower in the dwarven brewery untill you have gone down the elevator). apart from having to start again for this loved the game and the fact it was different from most titles around in a good way.

This game cracks me up every time I play it.

Ok it's not major league button bashing and that's what I love about it.

Beautiful graphics, cleverly skewed take on fantasy icons and a wicked sense of humour.

Kick back after a hard day trying to be nice to people and take a leisurely evening stroll while your minions kick the crap out of everything and anything.

As one minion sez after battering half a dozen halflings -

'Well THAT was fun!'
