Brief synopsis of Wild Orchid

In WILD ORCHID, Emily (Carre Otis), a beautiful young attorney, undergoes a sexual awakening after traveling to Rio de Janeiro. She takes a job as the assistant to Claudia (Jacqueline Bisset), a no-nonsense, extremely successful businesswoman. As part of her duties, Emily must travel with her boss to Brazil during carnival. There, the lawyer meets Wheeler (Mickey Rourke), a mysterious American tycoon who is instantly attracted to her. The two of them become romantically involved but Wheeler wants Emily to take part in a series of unusual erotic games....

Rating of 2 stars out of 5 Radio Times

Another sordid melodrama from soft-core film-maker Zalman King, in which a respectable cast does its utmost to keep straight-faced throughout the clichéd goings-on. Nina Siemaszko is the young girl who is lured into working for brothel madam Wendy Hughes, while mourning her jazz drifter dad (Tom Skerritt). As usual with King productions, this looks terrific, but the plotting and dialogue are risible. Still, it's marginally better than the largely unconnected original, “Wild Orchid”, if only for the absence of Mickey Rourke.

I found this film to be quite drawn out and boring. I can understand what they were trying to show in the film, they just made it seem weird instead.

Weird & confusing erotic drama where Mickey Rourke character couldn’t be more meaningless and foolish. It seems everything worked against this film - the story, the actors and even the stunning Rio De Janeiro has been wasted here. Cliché, cliché and cliché

This film is quite interesting in parts but then it doesn't seem to go anywhere. As noticed previously, Mickey O'Rourke seems to mumble most of the time so that it is hard to understand what is being said.

Quite a meaningless but erotic film. dunno what Wheeler(Mickey Rourke) was trying to say or do or teach Emily(Carre Otis). sending your woman to another man for her to 'discover' her sexuality is not my idea of making my woman 'aware' of herself. I'll do that myself thank you.
