Rating of 4 stars out of 5 Radio Times

The Absent-Minded Professor meets The Incredible Shrinking Man in this joyous, innocuous and thrilling Walt Disney adventure that will appeal to both young and old. Rick Moranis makes you laugh long and loud, as the wacky inventor whose molecular reducer shrinks his two kids, and the children next door, to the size of Tom Thumb's thumb. How they cope with giant insects and water sprinklers in their hazardous garden-turned-jungle makes for epic fantasy chills and spills, doubling as a neat eco-learning quest in the best Disney tradition.

Los Angeles Times

"...There's something delightful about this grotesque perversion of scale....HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS is a prodigy of visuals and special effects..."

this film is superb. Wayne Szalinski (played by rick moranis) is convinced that he has figured out a way to shrink the size of matter.

It works great on paper, but he can't make it work in real life.

While he's at a conference presenting his ideas, the machine accidentally shrinks his children Amy and NIcky (played by Amy O'Neill and Robert Oliveri) , and his neighbour's children - Russell and Ron Thompson (played by Thomas Wilson Brown and Jared Rushton), to only a few inches tall .

When they get thrown out with the trash, they must journey across the backyard.

They meet up with a friendly ant, a killer scorpion, the danger of being chopped up by a lawnmower, and being drowned by a water sprinkler.

Meanwhile, Wayne and his wife try to fix the machine and find the kids, which lead to some very comical scenes.

Does Wayne fix the machine, and do the children make it home, so that they can be made back to their normal size?

watch the film to find out. It is well worth watching.

Rated - 5 starsWhat a really good film

I am nine and thought this film was really good. I loved the idea of the story and I found it really funny. I liked how they rode on the ant and how they found their lost toys in the garden. I thought it was good how the kids were tiny compared to the ant and toys.

Does what it says on the tin. Typical Disney live action fare with plenty of excitement for the little ones once it gets going. Not too sickeningly sentimental compared to some of their stuff (except for the ant!). Good effects for it's day.

Good fun movie for a damp weekend. My children (4 and 8) and their friends oohed and squeaked in all the right places and had a good few deep belly laughs too! Obviously not rivetting for adults, but children absolutely love it. Recommended for days with other peoples spare children!
