Rating of 5 stars out of 5 Radio Times

This irresistible combination of dazzling effects and sly comedy propelled Michael J Fox to stardom and Robert Zemeckis to the front rank of Hollywood directors. And time has not robbed it of any of its vitality. Fox plays the young student who travels back in time to the 1950s and acts as matchmaker for his future parents, who are showing no signs of falling in love. It's beautifully played by the cast (honourable mentions to Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover), and makes the most of an ingenious script from Bob Gale and Zemeckis that finds time to poke fun at 50s icons and lifestyles between the bouts of time travelling. Zemeckis's direction is equally adroit and he never lets the effects swamp the film.

Rated - 5 starsSimply a TIME honored classic

Where do you start when trying to review a film of this much class. Maybe by saying that if you havent seen this film, then where have you been for the last 2 decades! I defy anyone, of any age, to watch this film and not press the eject button without a smile on there face. (No matter how many times you?ve seen it!!!!) The film is almost twenty years old, but it still looks as fresh as it did back in 1985.

If you havent seen this film, then press the 'ADD' button straight away. If you have seen it still press the 'ADD' button straight away, you cant watch this movie too many times.

Rated - 5 starsTime travel gone mad

Anfski from Wiltshire , 12/11/2003

This film is a classic, which is still as fresh today as the day it was made.

It’s the old time travel story that people would think has been done so many times before. But because of the great acting, comedy and effects (that still look great after 18 years) this film refreshed the whole genre. Michael J Fox is great as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd is brilliant as Doc Brown the mad scientist. The story is very believable, you can just imagine some mad inventor actually doing the stuff that Doc Brown does. And thankfully they changed the ending from what was originally scripted otherwise you would have seen the time machine being driven into a large nuclear explosion (which you can hear about if you listen to the very interesting commentary). The main plot of the story is: Marty gets transported back to 1955 where he accidentally keeps his parents from ever meeting and falling in love, which causes a chain reaction that could vaporise his future and leave him stranded in the past. His only hope of getting back to 1985 is to make his parents fall in love. Which is easier said than done.

Also on the DVD are outtakes, deleted scenes, the making of Back to the Future, and a feature that pops up facts at the bottom of the screen as you watch the movie which is definitely worth trying.

This is a movie you will enjoy watching over and over guaranteed.

I never thought this movie would date, and I guess I hoped it wouldn't, but it has, and the special effects that wowed me in the 80's left me wanting more today.

nothing to say except.GREAT,FANTASTIC

one of the films of the 80,s decade and then it went beyond with the sequels.

some of the effects still stand up to scrutiny even now but what u cannot deny with this movie is that it works in every possible way.

the cast play off each other well, the comical timing is superb and the script in general is just great fun.

but a word of warning.after watching this you will have to watch the two sequels as well.

popcorn crunching fun.
