I haven't felt the urge to write a review before but wanted to warn all the fans of the originals that might be tempted. This is the pilot of the failed TV series and it shows.

If you thought the original movie was a decent action movie which peaked with Blade II and just about swallowed the Trinity film to allow yourself a conclusion then leave it there. Don't waste any of your time mourning the end of Blade by watching this awful cash in. There's a reason why the TV series was cancelled. Nuff said.

Rated - 5 starsA fantastic series. This is only the beginning.

Whatever you do don't judge the series on the 'Blade - house of Chthon' pilot movie which while it is good doesn't reach the heady heights of the series. This movie is a good addition to the Blade franchise (far surpassing the awful Blade Trinity) but as part of the entire series is essential viewing.

Kirk 'sticky' Jones aka Sticky Fingerz takes on the lead role of Blade for the series trying to fill some massive shoes formerly filled by Wesley Snipes. While his portrayal of the character in this movie isn't the best with Sticky imitating Wesley Snipes, he does get much better as the series goes on. In fact a few episodes after this pilot movie he slowly starts to make the role his own giving the character the more gritty street real.

The one thing to remember about Blade House of Chthon is that while it could be watched as a stand-alone movie it is the pilot to the series. So spends a fair amount of time setting up other characters and story threads which will be continued throughout the series. This groundwork pays off in spades later in the series giving the show more rounded characters and lots of well written stories, all threading together to make one big story.

Like the movie there's lots of action too although being a TV series they don't have lots of time for the massive set pieces like in the movies. So don't expect the same level of choreography instead more gritty street fighting, while still feeling like Blade with lots of weapons and new devices to 'Ash' Blades victims. It's also worth noting that as the series goes on the action gets better as the cast and crew refine their methods and improve what they can do on the time and money they have.

The CGI/special-effects is very good for TV standards although there is one sequence during the movie that could be better. The 'ashing' looks very cool !

To sum up this is a good start to a great little series that lasted about 12 episodes and adds some real depth to the Blade franchise. With some great characters, well written with strong story telling the series improves episode by episode and is a must for Blade fans... Just be patient and let the series develop, you won't regret it.

In short, this for TV adaptation from ther orignal Blade Movie staring Wesles Snipes is just outstanding.

This is the pilot episode, and the seris just gets better and better.

This is a must for all Blade fans.

But watch out if you have a sensativity to blood and extreme violance, as this has the lot!
