Brief synopsis of Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history. Features:

Realistic and Responsive Environments: Crowds react to your moves and will either help or hinder you on your quests.
Action with a New Dimension - Total Freedom: Eliminate your targets wherever, whenever, and however. Stalk your prey through richly detailed, historically accurate, open-ended environments. Scale buildings, mount horses, blend in with crowds. Do whatever it takes to achieve your objectives.
Intense Action Rooted in Reality: Experience heavy action blended with fluid and precise animations. Use a wide range of medieval weapons, and face your enemies in realistic swordfight duels.

Rated - 4 starsyou must play this game.

The controls can take a little getting used to at first but soon become second nature as long as you read the information in the tutorials. if you want to you could finish the story in a couple of days no problem but you will have to play it alot longer to get the full thousand points out of it.

It plays well and there is a jump control(i like to play a game before i review it). I would have liked to have more to do like collect /pick pocket cash to buy upgrades but thats just me being fussy.

This is one of the best looking games ever it does look much better at 1080p.

Rated - 4 starsNot as good as it could have been

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the game but it could have been so much better. (Yes I am reviewing this AFTER playing it !)

The game play gets very repetitive but I found the combat got more enjoyable so that whilst you are doing the same thing over and over again it kept me playing.

The climbing aspect I was really looking forward to but they have made it far to easy. There is virtually no challenge to the climbing in the whole game.

Probably my biggest niggle is the cut scenes. They can be over long, you can't skip them even if you have heard them before and there is a LOT of them.

And don't get me started on the ending!! Very disappointing.

But still the game leaves me with a feeling that I won't forget this game in a hurry for all it's shortcomings.

Rated - 1 starsbeautiful but boring

OK the game looks stunning, but that’s about it, i got sooo bored with it after 3 hours.

Climbing towers, running across roof tops (no skill involved just tab the button), riding horses.

i was hoping for GTA meets tomb raider, so disappointed, get Tomb raider anniversary much better.

Rated - 2 starsGreat Idea, Badly Executed

A customer from Wakefield , 12/12/2007

Assassin's Creed is quite possibly the best looking game I have ever seen on any format. The sheer amount of detail that has been put into each of the three major cities is simply amazing. Every market square, harbour and dirty street is dripping with detail. Unlike many games that often populate wonderful backdrops with the same 7 character models the developers of Assassins Creed have placed almost as much attention into the hundreds of citizens and guards wandering the dusty sun baked streets. As you hurtle through market stalls, scale buildings and leap from roof top to roof top you will be amazed by the animation and character detail of our anti ? hero.

The story of Assassins Creed easily matches the wonderful visuals and from the moment the story begins you will be drawn into the wonderfully originally story which comes across as a some medieval adventure story meets an episode of Quantum Leap.

Why or why then couldn't the actual game come close to matching the wonderful story and visuals. Aside from the actual 'main game' which consists of nothing more than 9 so called 'assassinations' there is little to nothing else to do (beyond run around collecting flags). The side missions consists of the same small handful of missions repeated over and over again, the actual game has a very similar feel to the 'grind' experience you get when playing an online roleplaying game, repeating the same uninteresting tasks over and over to achieve the same goal, over and over again.

Dont be fooled by thinking assassins creed has anything to do with actually assassinating anybody, this is not Thief, or Splintercell. There is no 'stealth' elemental involved. It usually involves being forced into a situation via cut scenes (which are in themselves wonderful). Once into these situations it usually involves an out and out sword fight with several characters.

If you do stick with this game to the end (and it wont take more than 10 or 12 hours to get through the 9 assassinations) in the final fight you will be faced with ... well lets just say it's not what I'd call an open ended game with many options on how to face the final enemy.

Clearly this is the first part of a series, here's hoping that the visuals and story line survive to see the sequal but everything else Assasssins Creed has to offer is replaced with something a little more ... interesting.

Assassin's Creed will stay with you long after you finish it. Here is one of the most unique gameworlds ever created: beautiful, memorable, and alive. Every crack and crevasse is filled with gorgeous, subtle details, from astounding visual flourishes to overheard cries for help. But it's more than just a world--it's a fun and exciting action game with a ton of stuff to do and places to explore, rounded out with silky-smooth controls and a complex story that will slowly grab you the more you play.
