Brief synopsis of Family Guy

The first video game based on the hugely popular Family Guy TV show, the Family Guy game features the same outrageous humour all the fans know and love. Play through three stories that intersect in typical Family Guy fashion. Be Stewie and match wits against his arch-nemesis half-brother Bertram as they vie to take over the world. Take control of Peter and fight to stop Mr. Belvedere who he thinks is trying to take over the world. Slip on a collar and down a martini as Brian and attempt to escape prison and prove your innocence in a puppy parental case gone awry.

Family Guy the game is a very basic action/platforming game at heart. The only really interesting thing about it is that it is set in the Family Guy universe. You play as Peter, Brian and Stewie, and each character has their own style of game play.

As Peter your goal in every level is to punch, kick and headbutt every single person before moving onto the next level and doing exactly the same. Brians levels are based around stealth and item collection. Brian must hide under tables and other objects so as not to be seen by other characters. Timing is crucial in these levels as you must wait until the enemies back is turned before sneaking past them, and if you are spotted by anyone you will need to restart the section again which becomes frustrating very quickly.

I found Stewies levels to be the most varied and interesting; involving both platform jumping and shooting sections.

The locations which you play in are nicely veried (such as Native American casinos, police stations and even inside Peters testicles!). The dialog is true to form providing lots of laughs in the usual Family Guy style, though a noticable section of the dialog is taken straight out of the TV series.

If you like Family Guy then this is worth a rental just for a laugh however the gameplay is shallow and repetitive so it may not hold your attention for long.
