Brief synopsis of Point Of Origin

Cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel (THE USUAL SUSPECTS, X-MEN) makes his solo directorial debut with POINT OF ORIGIN. Based on a true story, the film stars Ray Liotta as John Orr, an arson investigator searching for a serial offender in California. His task is complicated when he finds himself accused of starting the fires in question.

1. This is a very low budget move.

2. You'd be wrong to dismiss it, because of this.

Ray Liotta stars as a fire chief trying to stop an arsonist who is setting the city alight.

Hence the usual good guy chases bad guy, until they kidnap his wife and the good guy kills the baddie, maybe with a pay off line of 'Smoking it's bad for your health.

Wrong, this has actually got a twist. I won't spoil it by revealing the twist but it's watchable, not overly long and the acting is solid. Recommended for a lonely, rainy night.

Because this was based on a true story, this film kept you interested. The acting was first class and this was a more than average film. Not bad!

Rated - 3 starsGood story, solid acting, nice special effects

Made for TV, I believe, but don't let that put you off. This film is based on a true story (don't let that put you off, either!) about a serial arsonist who's on a six-year crime spree in southern California. Ray Liotta stars as the creepy arson investigator whose strange behaviour draws the suspicion of his colleagues. Good story, solid acting and nice special effects, reminiscent of 'Backdraft'. Good twist, too.
