Brief synopsis of The Invincible Iron Man

While raising the ruins of a long buried Chinese kingdom, billionaire inventor Tony Stark digs up far more than he bargained for. He unleashes an age-old prophecy that foretells the resurrection of the Mandarin, the emperor of China's darkest and most violent dynasty. In order to confront the destructive force, Tony creates an armored suit infused with high-tech weaponry. To stop the evil that he himself has raised from the earth, Tony must become his greatest invention ever - Iron Man!

Rated - 4 starsMarvel animation at its best

Yes, as it says in the title, Marvel animation at its best. The artwork for the Ironman suit sometimes seem to be almost 3-D-ish. A good story as well. Actually I was surprised, being an avid Ironman fan I am embarrassed to admit I hadn't known how the Ironman/Stark character had started. A good film to rent as a prelude to the upcoming Ironman movie.

This is a great preview to the new film that comes out next year. The storyline is good and holds the attention of all generations. If you are a marvel Fan of titles like Spider-man and the Fantastic four, this is a film for you.

Definately worth a watch

Half an hour in and I am struggling to stay awake.

I do hope the film will be a better re-make.

An avid Marvel Fan but a disappointed one in this version.

Rated - 1 stars'The Invincible Iron Man' (2006)

VERY disappointing! The dvd cover gives the impression that this is a high quality animated feature but unfortunately it is not. I am a great fan of decent manga (including Thundercats, original X-Men etc) but this attempt follows the new style of skanky looking animation which involves bland colours, poor motion and makes everyone look stretched and rediculouslyly skinny! If you've seen the New Generation Of X-men you'll know what I mean. If you appreciate this cheap new school stuff then fair play, if not you're better off avoiding this title.

Rated - 3 starsStill good for Iron Man

Visually this was great, it could had been a lot more simpler story-wise though. It seemed to have all too much in terms of combining the origins with mythical beings all at the same time. I liked how the main live action movie dealt with the origins and getting to grips with the technology. I can understand to a certain extent that some of that had to be sacrificed in order to go with the flow of the villains etc as technically in this cartoon it has already been shown that Tony Stark fully developed the suits long before he gets captured whereas in the main movie it was still an early idea for Stark.

Also it seemed the only reason to use the setting in China in conjunction with Tony Starks capture/origins was to merely set it up for the arch enemy the Mandarin otherwise I'm certain it would had taken a much longer time if both were to be set up separately.

It was interesting to see the use of all the different suits that were at his disposal. At the same time though the well known red & gold suit had very little appearance and seemed that the Mk1 suit was used more often especially for the final confrontation with Mandarin (or at least it was a suit very similar to that model).

Overall though it was still enjoyable to watch and interesting to see a slightly different take on the story of the character. It still felt that it was aimed at a young demographic somewhat, granted there is violence but nothing that hasn't been used elsewhere before.
