Brief synopsis of The Long Arm

A well-made police thriller which follows a Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent as he finds links between a recent robbery from a safe in a London office building and other similar crimes over the past two years. In every instance the make of the safe was the same.

This is a great film and I had been waiting years for it to finally appear in the rental lists. Like a lot of the classics it has languished in the wish list for months. Jack Hawkins gives a great performance as the Police officer in charge of this intriguing case. He is well supported by a top list of British 1950's character actors with a familiar face in every scene. The story is a cracking yarn about safes! But I'm not going to spoil it for you by divulging the plot details here. If you want some classic Ealing for an enjoyable evening then this is a good choice. Great cast, Great Story and Great production.
