Brief synopsis of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08

Just when you thought it was safe to go back on the green...there's a Tiger about. It would, of course, be remiss of EA to let a golfing season slip by without getting Tiger Woods' name onto a video game, and this year's no different.

This year there are upwards of 20 big name professional golfers lending their name to Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08. Trying out their swing are Tiger Woods (in case you hadn't guessed), Camilo Villegas, Vijay Singh, Annika Sorenstam, Christie Kerr and Morgan Pressel.

There are, as ever, a wealth of courses for you to stretch your slacks-clad legs on, including luxury locations such as Westchester Country Club, TPC Boston, Cog Hill and East Lake.

You'll be able to live the golfing dream, rising through the ranks from amateur level through to bumping clubs with the best of the best on the PGA Tour.

For the more hard-headed golfers picking up the game, there's a feature EA is calling 'shot confidence'. You'll be able to analyse every hole, tracking your performance through every shot to see where your strengths and weaknesses lie.

For that added next-gen touch, you'll also be able to see yourself step onto the green next to Tiger. For the first time, you'll be able to map real photos onto avatars, putting yourself right into the game.

Rated - 4 starsThe Best one so Far

The best incarnation of the series to date.

The analogue stick is a bit sensitive making straight shots a bit hit and miss

The 3 click system makes accurate chipping and putting even easier

The same short comings of all the previous games are still here - not enough courses

Overall a great golf game

Rated - 4 starsA good year for Tiger

I find that the Tiger Woods games vary in quality each year depending on how well they have implemented that year's new tweaks and features.

2008 is a good year for Tiger. The analog control has been pitched well for once - actually allowing you to use it in an analog way. There are plenty of courses and the various game modes never get boring.

I do have reservations about the new draws and fades - taking control away from the player. However, other than that it's all good. I have no interest in the 3-Click feature but it certainly does work as intended if you want to use it.

A really good game that I simply cannot stop playing. Highly recommended to all gamers.

Rated - 2 starsBIG let-down after last year

Shifty , 29/11/2007

I had high hopes for Tiger 08 after last year's triumphant outing....unfortunately it was not to be. The graphics seem worse, the new/old-skool 3-click system is VERY random and the photo importing doesn't work well at all.
