Brief synopsis of Spider-Man 3

It wouldn't be a big, splashy, blockbuster film release without the obligatory game tie-in, would it? Spider-Man 3 is no exception. The good news is that where movie licenses generally have a reputation for lazy development, games based on the Spider-man films have a reputation for quality and good, wholesome fun.

While Activision's promising fun this time around, we can't promise that it'll necessarily be wholesome. Spider-Man 3 marks the appearance of the black costume. If you don't speak nerd, the black costume is a symbiotic life form that enhances Spidey's speed, strength and agility. The bad news is that it has some rather nasty effects on his personality, making him act like a dork.

Don't worry though. The unveiling of Spidey's dark side doesn't mean you'll be playing through hours of him fighting his inner demons and emotional turmoil, oh no. As well as the film's villains, the Sandman, the Hobgoblin and Venom, you'll take on Spidey classics such as The Scorpion, The Lizard, The Kingpin, Kraven the Hunter and more.

Rated - 2 starsFun but ultimately same problem as previous games

If you have played any of the previous spiderman games then you will be aware that they do not strictly follow the plot of the films. On one hand this is good but on the other is annoying if you just want to play the film plot. Maybe this should be made an option. The controls are too fiddly and I found myself flying into buildings and the road which gets annoying after a while. Fun for a bit but gets boring quickly.
