Brief synopsis of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground

As of 2007, Activision finally has some competition in the realm of skateboarding games from EA's skate. It's just as well then, that Activision has overhauled the basic formula of the franchise and created what it promises is the deepest game in the series yet with Proving Ground.

In Proving Ground, players will have some big choices to make. You'll have a choice of three routes to go down. As a hardcore skater, you'll be tasked with having a more traditional Tony Hawk experience, seeking out the best spots to push your skills to the limit. As a career skater, players will have to go out there and make a name for themselves to get sponsorship, enter competitions and make their fortune. As a rigger, it's all about D.I.Y.; putting together crazy set-ups to reform the terrain and push the limits of what you thought was possible.

Proving Ground also offers up more opportunity to generate your own content and customise your game than ever before. Players can grab and edit their own videos to share with their mates, with options like creating their own soundtracks to sweeten the deal.

After playing Skate on the PS3, this game is truly the worst skating game ever! PS2 style graphics , lame controls and the game fails to explain any of the challenges you get. All in all the worst game I have ever played.

Glad I didn't fork out 40 quid fr this still born

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game with so many possibilities. For example, the ability to knock people down when skating (or 'checking') offered lots of new fun whilst skating around the free-roaming world of THPG.

My main problem is that this is a skating game released just after the epic 'Skate', which just doesn't match up. The physics are unrealistic; the controls are far too smooth to fit skateboarding and you just have less control. In short, if you're only going to get one skating game for a next gen console, this might not be the one. Having said that, it's still a lot of fun as a rental title. Check it out for yourself, as it's definately worth a try.

Stay away from this game it is utter poo,it glitches, its full of bugs,it freezes, the sound quality is crap, i tried my best with it but ended up trading it the next day. Im a TH lover they in the past have been good, what have they done to this franchise. Dont get me wrong things need to go next gen for the consoles but try get it right before release, another which is along the rest of unfinished games move away from Kane & Lynch

Rated - 1 star'Tony Hawk's Proving Ground Very Poor

I was going to get this game last year when it was realised but didn't I got Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion GotY instead and after playing that through for like 2 month solid I forgot about Tony Hawk's Proving Ground so i decided to rent it. Now I am a big fan of Tony Hawk games I got from the original through to American Wasteland I just not played Project 8 and they were all great. What a huge disappointment Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is. Story line is boring, very short and just ends it leaves you feeling like ohhh is that the end now what. I finished it in just over a day, Create a skater is very limited, unlockables are rubbish, controls off your board are terrible. The only good thing about this game is nail the trick/grad/manual which is awesome but soon gets boring. Okay rental title if your a huge Tony Hawk fan but equally disappointing if you are
