If you've never played a wrestling game before, this is a good place to start. If you're a veteran of the series, don't bother really. The commentary and gameplay is almost identical to the past TWO years, the commentary is unchnaged since sm! vs. raw 2006!

On better terms, the graphics are good and CAW (create a wrestler) is as good as ever. ECW matches are the most enjyable, giving you the opportunity to pick what weapon you want to pull out from underneath the ring. There is also no stupid stamina system anymore so you don't have to constantly hold down the select button. Instead, wrestlers tire over time, and much more realisticly than in previous years.

Matches are too slow for my liking. Moves don;t flow, and although the use of the analogue sticks to pull off and modify moves works, it still doesn't help the pace of the game. Matches aren't as exciting as they used to be, and frankly, the control system where pressing circle to grapple worked a lot better. If you didn;t play 2007, things are different. The buttons have ALL been swapped around, none are the same, so you'll have to get used to them first.

There are only about 40 wrestlers with too many missing out, such as Shelton Benjamin. TheLegends selection is good though. Usuals such as Steve Austin and The Rock are in, as well as new Legends such as Roddy Piper and Tommy Dreamer. ECW has too few wrestlers to say the least. It's a shame seeing as the PS3 version should've been huge. There are tons of matches though, more than any other game since. Money in The Bank matches return from 2007 and all the others (with variations) appear as well.

The 24/7 mode is okay, but not great. It's nothing new in terms of what stories you play, and the fact that most of the time you are resting and losing fans doesn't help.

THQ and Jakks Pacific could've done so much more with this game, roll on 2009 for a real improvement and hopefully a whole new game. This one is basically sm! vs. raw 2007 with better graphics and a roster update.

i didnt know what rating to give this game because despite great new features there are some things in this game which spoil the game such as,,control types if you liked the control types from previous games ur be disapointed to know there is no option to change controls and its hard to control and ur soon find yourself getting mad,,season mode seems bit dulled down and get annoying after a while,,on the plus side extreme rules match is fun and enjoyable, but 2 stars from me for being poor overall

The graphics and gameplay are out of this world. You can get to choose from a wide range of wrestlers and the game is relatively simple to play.

If you enjoy watching wrestling then you are really going to enjoy this game.

Excellent

Rated - 2 starsNO place for newbies

When I first started up the game i was expecting it to be a fast furious button masher like tekken and the lark. It turned out to be quite different - without the control manual i was lost to what to do and was tapping [] furiously just to land the odd punch. 24/7 mode had good layout and nice ideas but since i was new to WWE franchise i could not get the best out of a complex game where the focus is on timing and precission not button mashing.

If you never played a WWE game before - stay clear.

But i can see this game could be AWESOME if you have previous experiances of a WWE game!

Why do they keep bringing these types of games out and not improving the game play, found the game to be far too slow and just like all the others. Wont be renting the new additions
