Brief synopsis of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is a dark and gritty tale of two men bound by circumstance as they wait on death row for their final sentence. One is a flawed mercenary, the other a medicated psychopath. The two are forced to embark on a violent and chaotic journey, hating each other every step of the way. Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is a story-driven, fully co-operative third-person action shooter title, with intuitive crew mechanics, heavily populated destructible real-world scenarios, a volatile partnership and brutal attitude.

Rated - 4 starsWhat's wrong with this Game??

I read the two reviews below and thought this game would be what they said, but they i far wrong, the only fault i think is that the graphics are not 100% next gen.

The story is Brillant, i played it for an hour and so much happens that you dont get to do in normal games like rob bank and have a shoot out in a night club full of people.

Also the acting is really really good too, you are took away by what is going on.

But maybe with reading the two reviews below I didnt get my hopes up, cos when you hype about a game it is normally a load of s**t.

Well worth a rent.

This game has been highly underestimated by many including the reviewers above. It might not be the best game in the world but its onine multiayer is great with leaderboards and to play with your friends is great. The way it forces you to not trust anyone and whoever gets the most money wins is a great idea. It is worth buying purely for the online multiplayer. single player is good but isnt its strong point though is worth doing purely for the story which is well worth making a movie over.

Initially this game started out with potential. Graphics..tick, suitably adult storyline and characters..tick, organic control system..tick. However as you progress so does the feeling of frustration and annoyance. Interspersed between genuinely gripping set pieces are a multiude of on rails, random dashs which inevitably end up with you trying to save your more than useless crew. Don't get me started on their A.I, it just isn't there. All in all, one of those games you play through to the end hoping it will get better (but just doesn't). Even the twist at the end(which could have been a real winner), ends up being another lesson in frustration.

Kane and Lynch plays out like an anti-hero buddy movie, yet forgets to inject any of the finesse, characterisation and accessability that the genre requires.

You will be able to find little sympathy for any of the protagonists as they blast away numerous scum that don't really differ from their own moral grounds.

Then there's the gratuitous swearing - I'm quite sure that the dialogue must have been penned by the writers of Knocked Up, as this showing delivers more of the same shallow and petulent use of the 'F' word.

The game nearly manages to be gripping in despite all of its flaws, because although it's yet another 3rd person shooter, it does take you on a tour of sites and experiences not often visited in videogaming - such as heists and bustling night-clubs.

A further plus for the game is its local co-op mode, whereby players can team up and play the entire campaign mode in split-screen - a serious triumph for those that don't have/don't want to rely on teaming up over X-Box Live.

However, the fundamental mechanics of the game serve to ultimately render it useless. Your team-mates will happily stand around while enemies next to them pump you full of hot lead. Your own actions are seriously ineffective because of wildly erratic recoil on all weapons. This is made many times worse by the fact that enemy accuracy is absolutely pinpoint, so while your shots splatter the walls, any enemy with a bead on you will have you dead.

Ultimately disappointing, this title should be avoided, largely because it promised so much, and sadly delivered so little.
