Rated - 5 starsSpoof-tributes have never been so funny

Forget Spaceballs and Galaxy Quest - this is the ultimate spoof of any Sci-Fi film. Ever! Okay that may be going a bit far but this is by far the funniest Star Wars tribute you will see for a long time.

We begin with a power outage in Quahog, knocking out all the lights, refrigirators and worst of all TV. So what's a Griffen family to do in such dire straights? Well, tell a story of course, and Peter is only too glad to tell his tale of a long time ago 'that's somehow in the future'. The whole of A New Hope is covered in the following 50 minutes, with all of your favourite Star Wars characters played by recognisable faces. The whole Star Wars score is also here, always present in the background with Peter humming along at one point.

Anyone who watches Family Guy will no doubt love this (though be warned, this is in fact an extended episode from season six so it may not be worth buying it on it's own - rent it instead!) and even those unfamiliar with the world of Peter Griffen should be amused enough to get them interested to see the rest of the series. What the phantom menace are you waiting for?

Rated - 1 starsFamily Guy: Blue Harvest

BadJUJU BadJUJU from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 05/02/2008

I LOVE Family Guy and Star Wars, but this is well below standard on both counts. I think i laughed outloud about twice, whereas usually i am apopleptic with mirth at any episode of Family Guy.

I can only assume the spoilsports at Lucas Film were too precious to give the writers enough freedom to really rip into Star Wars. Which is a real shame and a massive missed oportunity.

ho hum...

Rated - 2 starsThe force is not that strong with this one

A customer from Southend-on-Sea , 06/02/2008

I love Family Guy and have all the series, in fact tis even better than those past their best folk in Springfield.

And I like Star Wars but this, it ticks all the right boxes, there is some clever stuff and clever casting but something just doesn't work.

There are a lot of 'I see what you did there moments' but not the best Star Wars riffs the show has done.

Still prefer Spaceballs.

If you enjoy Star Wars this is fantasic fun - I was in stitches throughout! I hope the other two or even five episodes are also produced. I actually think that 46 minutes was the correct length of time.

Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest is a double episode special created by Seth Green to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. It combines the sheer comical brilliance of Family Guy with the beauty and depth of the Star Wars universe, making a program guaranteed to entertain you.

Blue Harvest is surprising faithful to the story of Star Wars Episode 4 (A New Hope,) of course considerably more funnier with jokes injected in almost every scene. Within moments of hitting that play button on the dvd remote, and being greeted with the opening credits, I knew that this was going to be something extraordinary and Blue Harvest definitely lives up to my expectations. The characters in Blue Harvest have long been established over the history of Family Guy and have been put to good use in making this special. Stewie as expected was Darth Vader, a great idea, and he delivers plenty of one line wonders such as "My diapers have gone over to the dark side," but all of the characters we've grown to know and love are here. The animations and scoring are excellent, actually above the Family Guy usual. There are also some good special features included that add to the entertainment value.

The running time is a bit on the short side and as a few other reviews have already mentioned it is slightly cheeky to release Blue Harvest separately considering that the price is only a few pound short of being able to buy you an entire season of Family Guy. Most of the special was just fantastic and very comical, but there were a few things I didn't like. The 'Time Of My Life' scene is a little lame and long-winded. I feel that Brian (playing Chewbacca) could have been better done and sadly the scene with the sofa, just didn't do it for me.

So despite a few small failings, if you're a fan of Family Guy or Star Wars (or like me both) Blue Harvest is money well spend and a joy to watch. It won't disappoint you.
