Brief synopsis of The Passion
Temple priests prepare themselves for the influx of pilgrims to Jerusalem for Passover, as does Roman governor Pontius Pilate (James Nesbitt, BLOODY SUNDAY). Meanwhile, Jesus the Galilean (Joseph Mawle, SILENT WITNESS), is about to enter Jerusalem through the East Gate on a donkey's colt. BBC mini-series THE PASSION follows the last week in the life of Jesus Christ and also looks at the perspectives of the Romans and the religious authorities. The script by Frank Deasy (PRIME SUSPECT 7) succeeds in giving greater detail--in what is a familiar story--to the religious and political conditions in Jerusalem at the time while still staying faithful to the gospel stories.
