I may as well confess here and now: until about a week ago I was a Sex and the City virgin. Course, I had a pretty good idea what I was missing. You can't open a magazine these days without... read more »

This movie is a superb follow up to the tv series of Sex and the City. It picks up four years on

The film sees friends Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones the publicist, (played by Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York, the art gallery curator (played by Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes, the cynical lawyer (played by Cynthia Nixon) continuing to juggle work, relationships, motherhood and Manhattan real estate in their 40s.

Chris Noth reprises his role as Carrie's Mr Big, David Eigenberg is Miranda's down-to-earth husband Steve, Evan Handler plays Charlotte's dependable husband Harry, and Jason Lewis makes a showing as Samantha's actor boyfriend, Smith.

Carrie who is a successful author and journalist, who also writes a column about sex and relationships in New York city, and who is also everyone’s favourite fashion icon-next-door turns 50 years old in the film, but still has her impeccable dress sense, and her sardonic wit is sharper than ever. She continues to narrate her own story about sex, love and the fashion-obsessed single woman in New York City, as the film goes along.

The show still has that wonderful style, humour and wit that people are drawn too.

Many people can relate to the same problems that the 4 girls in Sex and the City have.

The film is about forgiveness, and the pursuit of love in a way that is positive, real and meaningful.

Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson (also in the film Dreamgirls) plays Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant.

In the film, Carrie is planning her long-anticipated wedding to Mr. Big, also known as John James Preston, with her best friends - Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.

She suddenly learns that life doesn't play out like a fairytale. But when all else fails, you always have your closest friends to lean on.

Well worth watching.

the Sex and the City film was not that good. It was way too long and it was quite boring. The story line was quite good. It was an average predictable chick flick, it was no way near as good as i expected it to be.

When I was growing up, the series was my bible, to fashion, life, friends and love. If I couldn't get the answers that I needed desperately I would turn to four fictional characters for well needed support. When the series ended it was finally time to go it alone and even though I made mistakes I finally found love.

The movie was well worth waiting for and now I have the psalms for the rest of my life! If you have seen the series and followed the lives of the ultimate single girls then you will laugh with every comical scene and cry with every tear that they drop but most of all this movie will make you feel emotion that everyone needs to feel.

Charlotte is the happily married woman with the family that she always dreamed of. This classy, hopeless romantic adds such charm to the movie you cant help but grow in love with her all over again. Miranda, the smart fiery red head will send you on an emotional roller coaster, Samantha will fulfill all the passion and erotic feelings that you need from life.... the minx and Carrie is the great narrator, trying to convince every single girl that love is there, all around you! Just stop looking!!!

Many other characters just add to the fabulous plot and if your still not sure, wait till you see the fashion! Lous Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and of course..... Manolo Blanik! What more could you want!!!

I reccommend that you revisit your past or look to the future and live this journey with the four best friends a girl could ever have, fictional or not.......

Rated - 5 starsAll that you can expect and more - it's fabulous!

For someone who 'grew up' with SOTC in the new millennium, I always felt that the last season was weak and the story line was running out of momentum. The last series felt forced and weak and not too funny, as if the writers had ran out of ideas. Series 3 and Series 4 of the series were the absolute highlights, with some of the best TV comedy and romance we have ever seen, with some of the funniest writing ever (anyone recalls 'funky spunk' or Carrie's tumble on the catwalk?). Considering the movie was so many years in the making my expectations were very big, but at the same time a part of me was expecting to be disappointed. I can only say, without revealing the plot, that the movie was just... well.... 'fabulous'! The characters, the romance, the glamor, the amazing portrayal of friendship that the series portrayed is all there. Watching the movie was like re-seeing an old, very good friend and reminiscing an amazingly good time! It's funny, it's sexy, it's grown but is still the very much the same, and it's also probably the most romantic piece of cinema you've seen this year (yes, several occasions where one does shed a tear or two!). Mix up some cosmos, dim the lights, and see it with a few of your best friends while eating a box of chocolates. It's fantastic.

Rated - 2 starsNot much Sex but plenty of City

A pointless exercise. The main cast have obviously been out of the limelight to long & felt the need to be loved again. To be fair I only watched as my girlfriend was a big fan of the series, which, I often watched and liked. This film, for 45 minutes is pretty much the Sarah Jessica Parker show (which of the four leads was my least favourite) & the relationship with Mr Big (again, not one of my favourites from the show). It is all very predictable, the scenes which are supposed to generate sympathy are at times very funny (the schene surrounding a particular wedding is one of the worst acted/directed I have seen but did have me & my partner laughing out loudly, when I think we should have been upset!). One shining light is Kim Cattrell, who has all the best scenes & funny lines. The film does pick up near the end with a little humour but the soppy & very predictable ending lets the film down again. This review has been completed with the help of my partner who is a big fan of the show!
