Brief synopsis of The Bucket List

Edward Cole (Nicholson) is a corporate billionaire who is currently sharing a hospital room with blue-collar mechanic Carter Chambers (Freeman). Though initially the pair seems to have nothing in common, conversation gradually reveals that both men have a long list of goals they wish to accomplish before they 'kick the bucket'. But one can't accomplish such lofty objectives from the confines of a hospital bed, so now in order to live their lives to the absolute fullest Edward and Carter will have to make a break for it!

Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson both turned 70 last year. You would think two actors of this caliber and experience would have better things to do than peddle sentimental twaddle like this... read more »

A beautiful film brilliantly acted.

An emotional ride of the lives of two dying men coming to grips with the end of their lives. Freeman and Nicholson gel together so well as they form a friendship which will leave you with tears in your eyes and a smile on your face.

Rated - 4 starsWonderfully emotional ride!

Meako Meako [Highly rated reviewer] , 29/01/2008

Two men who realise their own mortality, and with only months left to live, plan out their 'Bucket List' of things to do before they die. In the hands of a lesser cast and crew, this could have just been yet-another-sugary-syrup-weepy film. However here, with the presence of Nicholson and Freeman, the film offers the expected emotions, but plenty of chuckles as the pair bicker, banter, and live out their dreams. A really well made film which shows us all what life is really all about, The Bucket List is a pleasing 90 minutes of viewing recommended to anyone.

Rated - 5 starsMakes you think.

I did not have much hope of enjoying this film. I thought it was going to be boring and try too hard to be funny. I was wrong and i am glad i watched it.

This film has a beautiful meaning and reaches you on so many levels. For me it made me question a few things in my own life, and it makes you remember everyone has to die.

And it was funny. There are some great one liners in here and some of the things they do make you want to laugh out loud. Its so believable and you could imagine it happing in real life. I think the actors are perfectly cast and the friendship on screen is heartfelt and moving.

if you are having a bad day then you should watch this film. It makes you realize there are people alot worse off then you.

A fantastic film and well worth watching.

Rated - 5 starsA Magnificent Story About Friendship

crockery from Belfast [Highly rated reviewer] , 14/03/2008

Couldn't wait to get my hands an eyes on this movie, with the casting of Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman it's MUST and there is no chance that the movie will go wrong. AND I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!

The story is quite predictable, but I still enjoyed it. Never mind how impossible the storyline is because it is a great movie about friendship - how two men become great friends in a short time and help each other out throughout the time they are together. It moves along at a smooth pace and I never got bored, so the writer gets credit for that. The acting was top notch as Nicholson and Freeman draw forth the right emotion in the audience at the right time. The emotional parts are done just right, but the funny scenes are the best. I laughed throughout the movie but not as much as I would in a true comedy movie, but the comic scenes in this one really work and Nicholson is the 'main man' in them. It does have a message at the end about how you should live your life to the fullest, how your family is important, and how you should be happy in life and the movie delivers that message perfectly.

The movie is great. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a feel-good movie.

I think it is good to laugh and this film had some very funny moments. I know the story is a bit shocking for some people as dying can be a hard subject to deal with. This film deals with it great and I hope I meet a guy like him if I ever get sick.

Rated - 2 starsDeath wish list

Two screen heavyweights in a lightweight script. Freidman continues his penguin narration and Nicholson has a few witty putdowns. Other than that the film is predictable, formulaic and not very profound. The end, whilst obvious, is a relief to all.
