Talk about a train wreck! There are bad films and bad films, but it takes a lot of talented people and the accumulated weight of Hollywood wisdom to come up with a blockbuster as defective and read more »

Rated - 3 starsLoved the first half, didn't like the second

I just came back from watching it, all in all it was an average film with a satisfying twist. The first half of the movie was better than the latter half in my opinion

What can I say, this is not a blockbuster. A very mixed up film not sure of what it is, comedy, love story, moral who knows, it didn't seem to me the director or script writers knew. The ending is typical american rushed and stupid.

I would just drop the first 3 letters of the title and that says it all.

Was pleasantly suprised by this film, thought all i was gonna get was the action side of Will Smith i.e I Robot but ended up with a whole performance which incorporated his whole spectrum. Im talking Men in Black all the way to Pursuit of Happyness. Some incredible laugh out loud moments and one-liners. But Smith also made you feel for his character. Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron also played good supporting roles. Overall this film was well worth the cinema ticket.

Rated - 2 starsHardly Smiths finest half hour..

PaulaWestwood from Ashton-Under-Lyne [Highly rated reviewer] , 06/07/2008

Right on the back of superhero movies Hulk and Ironman comes the fun spoof superhero spin off but does it fly with the others well Ok even your biggest names can only work with the material they are given, and it seems likely Will only read the first two thirds of the script before taking this role. The best one liners, action bits and entertainment are definately packed in early, and even then only moderately entertaining. The last bit deteriorates into some sort of morality tale completely out of nowhere and out of synch with the whole idea of a fun superhero flick. Worth a watch, but dont go out of your way.

Rated - 2 starsA new twist on the superhero tale!

A customer from SW London , 15/07/2008

The only reason I have given this movie a 2 is because Will Smith looks really fit in his black leather superhero outfit! The new twist of a superhero gone self destructive(and forgotten who he is) just didn't go down well.He saves Bateman's life and Bateman (a PR man) decides he will clean up the downtrodden superhero image only to find out that Hancock (Smith) was his current wife's (Theron) husband for many thousands of years and that in order for both to survive as Superheroes they have to stay far away from each other as possible. Whew! Far fetched doesn't begin to cover this silliness that's supposed to be a plot. The end was clumsily put together, and I walked out of the movie house not quite sure about what I had just watched. Smith usually chooses good movies to star in, but his latest choices have been dubious, which in the world of ticket sales translates like this: if he's not careful, he could be on his way out! Which would be a shame, as he's one of the few actors in Hollywood today, that still has that charisma that is so contagious and likeable!

Rated - 2 starsDisappointing

Joi from Rochester [Highly rated reviewer] , 19/08/2008

Even though I love the acting ability & skills of Will Smith, Charlize Theron & lesser of Jason Bateman, this film left me disappointed and I couldn’t get out of the cinema fast enough when it ended. There is a story with a twist but its boring and in the main very disappointing, felt something was missing form a Lack Lustre superhero film with usually super actors.
