I decided to give this a go, particularly as Gerard '300' Butler was in it...how bad could it possibly be? VERY!

Hairy blokes roaming about the Icelandic countryside on small pony's looking for a big hairier retarded Troll sums up this nonsensical romp.

Why did this make it to blu ray? Or any sort of film ditribution list for that fact, is beyond me. Sheesh.

I've read the epic poem and with all the hype about the CGI version, thought I'd give this a go. I was intrigued how they could pad the poem out to last more than 30 minutes. They managed to pad it out well, without adding too much to the story. They do add a bit, but it is well done and in keeping.

The acting is very good. Gerard shows a little of the Spartan he was yet to become and the support is all excellent.

However, this film fails in two aspects. Firstly, Grendel (and his relatives) are obviously people in hairy muscle suits - it shows and it doesn't look too good. Secondly, the (far too) few shots of the landscape fail to do the epic scenery any justice, even in HD. Both of these problems are basically a result of lack of budget.

Reminded me of the other Robin Hood film that came out at the same time as Prince of Thieves.
