Brief synopsis of Halla Bol

Ashfaque (Ajay Devgan) is a small town boy aspiring to be a film star in the Hindi film industry. He joins a street theatre group run by a reformed dacoit Sidhu (Pankaj Kapur) who uses street theatre as a medium to bring about an awakening in the masses. Ashfaque struggles to give a creative vent to the actor in him in order to realize his dreams. Ashfaque's determined struggle pays off and he gets a break in films. But it's at a cost as he slowly starts to lose any sense of himself and starts to forget who he is.

I was not expecting such a serious film. I thought it would be a comedy movie but turned out to be a very good serious film. Good story and very good performances. Worth watching.

I like Ajay Devgun but this movie is a total disappointment. Could not sit through it. Some dialogues and scenes are worth watching but overall the storyline and performances and below average by most characters. Would not recommend at all to anyone

Rated - 4 starscant ignore the message in the film

This film is definitley worth a watch. It is not your typical film, it is a non glamorous role which only Ajay would have the guts to film as he is a first rate classy 'actor'. The film depicts the reality of cover ups and helplessness of actors in the film world and how we 'viewers' are not really aware of what goes on behind the scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed the film and feel Ajay has once again delivered powerful performance.
